Nice article by Chambers on Rock in today's Denver Post. No new updates on Chevy and Wiercioch. It is a shame that this series may played without the best goalie in the country in Chevy and two of the best d-men in Wiercioch and Genoway.

Actually, dear, I'm disrespecting YOU. Nobody on the DU thread requires any lectures from you or that other babe about respect. Nobody has called Pepe a liar, repeatedly. That's what your frostbitten sister did, and she's not withdrawn it nor apologized for it. Until she does, IMHO, all of you Nanook of the North crybabies can just pound sand, assuming you can find any.

My 7th grade edducation prevints me frum misunderstanding this here poste

Wow...This is like the end-of-the-year Oscar rush from the movie studios, as the competition heats up for 'Poster of the Year'... :D

I think we're just a little salty due to the long bye week and the propensity for our top players being injured, leading to performance issues for our team.

Bye weeks do pretty much suck for us fans (though not as bad as that 1957 thingy), however the bye couldn't have come at a better time. At least we have some hope of Chevy and Wiercioch being back for UND, which would not have been the case if we had played them this past weekend.

While Gwoz was putting together the schedule, did you let him borrow the crystal ball? :)

Wow, I just noticed how prominent this article is in the paper version of the Post--Rhett's photo covers half of the first page of the sports section! A deserving tribute to our most consistent player so far this year.

Rhett is a pretty impressive guy. Think it is great he and DU hockey are getting some press. Although a sweep of NoDak would be GRR E A T press.:)

With the current depleted injury state of the key Pios in the lineup:

-Getting swept this weekend is a very real, ugly possibility.

-Getting a point on the weekend would not be the end of the world.

-Getting a split would be a very acceptable result

-Getting 3 points or (gasp) a sweep would be well beyond my expectations.

Funny, this is my exact expectations for this weekend for the Sioux as well.
Crazy how injuries change your whole outlook on a series...

Especially when the injuries are to the best players....

I was going to say the exact same thing. We have all said on this board that injuries are a part of this game. Every team suffers injuries. However, it seems like DU has a tendency to have their very best, high impact players injured. Bozak, Chevrie, Weircoch, Conner James!! Are there others that I'm forgetting? Let's hope our recent rash of injuries end as well as it did with James!

In recent years besides the ones you mentioned, Brock Trotter, Ruegsegger, Rakhshani, Brett Skinner, Chris Butler, Ryan Caldwell, and Kevin Ulanski, have all faced injuries that found them sidelined or playing hurt with reduced effectiveness.

About the only ones that I can think of who weren't significantly injured were Gabe Gauthier, Luke Fulghum and Peter Mannino, and I might be wrong about them, too...

It's maddening!! Plus, I feel for these kids( the players) too. All of them under the microscope of the NHL, their own personal expectations put on hold, their teammates, fans. It just sucks!!:(

Fulghum took the puck to the boyz in the Frozen Four and they were swollen to the size of Grapefruit. OOOUUUUCH

Hockey is a collision sport of split second reactions and violence, and with the speed of the game, the increased player strength and fitness, the fact you have developing 18 year bodies being crushed by men of 23 and 24 years old and advances in the lightness of equipment, and a rink that is basically the same size in was in the 1940s, injuries are going to keep happening in a long season. There really is not a lot the players can do to avoid them - it's just part of the game.

The hope is that you get through the season with enough quality depth that your guys on the ice are still able to get the job done when it counts.

Re: All Things DU XXV - Murray Up and Get The Chevy Out of The Repair Shop

Last year Wiercioch played with a bad shoulder most of the season and Martin was slowed with a hip problem the whole year.

Some things you can play through and others.....:(

Here's hoping Wiercioch and Chevy are well on the road to recovery.

If you watch the "upcoming events" video on the DU web site on the right side just under under Pioneer Vision, you'll see Rhett Rhakshani's rather funny take on this weekend's UND series. You have to sit through Ashley Robinson's DU vs CSU women's hoops promo first though (that game is Wednesday).

Rock says:

..."We take on the North Dakota Fighting Sioux, or whatever name they might have for this upcoming season....and maybe, if you're lucky, our coach will walk across the ice to the penalty box."

And yet when Brett Hextall talks smack, the entire DU team, coaching staff and FSN broadcasting crew gets upset.
