What does DU have that virtually every Division I School doesn't have?

No club or varsity football program draining millions of dollars from the budget and requiring untold extra employees.

That's good stuff there on Chambers' blog. Interesting interview with Wiercioch, and Chambers is right about Ryder. I was glad to see the Post name Ryder as one of the stars of the game this weekend, as he really deserved it. While Nutini and Wiercioch have been gimpy, Ryder has really stepped up his game, and was one of the most important players on the ice in the CC series.

Hofstra University on LI just announced in the past few days that they were dropping football after this year due to high costs and low attendance. So that makes Hofstra and Northeastern as dropping their programs in the past few weeks.

I gotta give you props on a cheesy, yet ingenious, way to avoid buying a beer to pay off a debt. Write the question "what does DU have" when the answer is really what they don't have? I never stop learning from you. :D

These "All Things DU" freeloaders would have been drinking my beer all winter long.:D

Per Heisenberg, DU just got a committment from Zac Larraza of U-17 USNDPT Team. He is a 6'3" 175 pound forward born in 1993. He will enter DU in 2011. He is from Scottsdale, Arizona and played for the PF Chang's Team in Arizona before going to the USNDPT. DU won a recruiting war with Michigan, Michigan State and Boston College for Zac. The U-17 team is playing a schedule that includes a lot of games against USHL teams. They also won the Four Nations Cup in early November with wins over Russia, Slovakia and Switzerland. The U-18 team is also playing in the USHL.

Here is an article from when he committed to the USNDPT program earlier this year.

This is from Mully's Musings in the Timmins Times.

The U.S. in the meantime has a strong club again and its full time U-17 program has provided a number of strong players in past. Both 6-foot center J.T. Miller and 6'2" winger Zac Larraza are top-notch future NHL prospects. Michael Paliotta is one of the top defencemen prospects available. Right winger 6'3" Seth Ambroz is the prototypical power forward who excels down low in the offensive zone. A few U.S. players from Canadian Junior Hockey should also be added.

Note: JT Miller is uncommitted.

Wow, Gwoz and Miller have made some kind of strong connection to the USNDPT. Seems like most of our players are coming from there these days. Impressive. Looks like we're winning a lot of recruiting wars. Yeah, boy...

But again...we need to win it THIS year...the future be ****ed!! We'll be lucky if 25% of these recruits turn into Rakhshanis & Ruegseggers.

You are correct sir (said like Ed Mcmahon on the Johnny Carson show). I remember thinking and all of us were hoping that the 04 and 05 wins were going to get us on a non stop recruiting trail of studs and that it has!! Right after the 05 championship, this very website had an article on Rakhshani that said something like, "the rich get richer at DU" From that point on we got one stud after another. Now here we are 4 years of recruiting after the 05 win and we are loaded. This is the year we should be doing it. This the year we've been waiting for!!

Go DU!!!

As usual, I am impressed with Dmann's enthusiasm. :)

Re: All Things DU XXV - Murray Up and Get The Chevy Out of The Repair Shop

In this day and age, half the battle is the recruiting and the other half is keeping the students in school. If they leave early you don't get the benefit of their Junior and/or Senior seasons when they should be dominating the competition.

DU had five players who had professional offers in the offseason. Four choose to return to school.

Minnesota on the otherhand has had players leave early fairly regularly.

Re: All Things DU XXV - Murray Up and Get The Chevy Out of The Repair Shop

Is anybody here going to Magness Arena next weekend to see a couple of the Women's Olympic Gold Medal-hopefuls? I haven't seen the event marketed too much around town, but should be really cool. One word... VETTER! Can she shut out Canada??

The game is being televised on the NHL Network.

Does this mean the same Direct TV channel , 683, that I've been watching the games on this year?

Oh God, now I'm worried!!
