Jersey Hitmen forward Evan Ritt commits to Denver - as a recruited walk-on. More of an energy line, PK guy. I've seen him play a few times this year in the newly formed USPHL.

After the new goalie commit, I was looking at some of the recent commits and came upon this:
Wayne, NJ - The Jersey Hitmen are proud to announce that center man, Evan Ritt, has committed to Denver University. Ritt will join the Pioneers, members of the newly formed NCHC, effective immediately and will join the team for their second semester this season.

BTW-Ritt is from Lakewood, CO, 6'1" 175 lb 20 yrs. old

Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

For what it's worth, my buddy who is an alumnus of both Miami and Denver and who has Miami season tickets told me he would be shocked if Miami could sweep anybody lately. So hopefully, we have at least a decent weekend coming up.

When he watches those two teams play each other, he always wears the visitor's jersey, so if you see a little bald guy wearing a DU sweater at the games, that's probably him.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

You and DU78 are so good at keeping track of this important stuff. It really frees up my time to get on T&A.com. Thanks.

That explains all your computer problems with the spam and viruses you get from your favorite site. :) :D  ;)

DU Game Notes for Miami. A special bonus this weekend is we can watch this away series on Pio Vision.

Looks like Ritt is already eligible to play as he is on DU's roster and it is noted in the game notes. Welcome aboard Evan!!!

Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

Anybody on here going to the hockey in Troy? Same question for the hoops in Philly on Jan 4, 2014.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

UPDATE:
Pioneers in the ECHL and CHL

ECHL
Tyler Ruegsegger(6)--Reading/Hershey 9 0-3-3 -3 (8 0-0-1 -2 at Hershey)
Kevin Ulanski--Colorado 17 5-13-18 -2
Luke Fulghum--Colorado 16 8-6-14 +1
Kyle Ostrow--Colorado 17 9-4-13 +8
Paul Phillips(7)--Colorado 7 0-2-2 -2
John Ryder--Colorado 18 0-4-4 +1
Marc Cheverie(7)--Colorado 12 Sv% .910 GAA 2.14
Geoff Paukovich(2)--Las Vegas 16 2-1-3 -4

CHL
Aaron Mackenzie--Denver 17 2-4-6 +6
Matt Glasser(7)-- Denver 17 1-3-4 even

Going to a Denver Cutthroats game is just plain 'ol fun. If you're nostalgic for DU's old barn or just want to experience the feel of old time hockey, there's no place better to watch hockey than the Denver Coliseum. The CHL certainly isn't the best hockey out there but the atmosphere is more than worth the $9 price of admission. The feel you get is by far less corporate and a lot more family oriented. This is what hockey is supposed to feel like!

Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

Miami needs to come to grips with the harsh reality that it cannot stop, but can only hope to contain, the withering offensive attack of Denver's top line of Evan Ritt, Larkin Jacobson and Sean Toriumi. Yeah okay, maybe not.

Good luck to Denver as it begins a stretch of fourteen of twenty games on the road. My $.02, but that's a brutal piece of scheduling.

But seriously, ASaaG, You have to figure Miami will try to stop LaLeggia and Makowski and then our forwards will be left to score at will. :D

Keep in mind 5 of those road games are when the students are gone, so Magness's atmosphere would be far from rousing. But it is still brutal.

Hey, maybe DU will embrace the road life. The 03-04 Calgary Flames (the team and year that really hooked me on hockey) were doing so well on the road during the playoffs, not so much at home, that Daryl Sutter had a bus pick them up from the airport and take them to a downtown hotel whenever they were at "home." Limited contact with their families and all. It (almost) worked out for them (or did work out for them if you believe that the puck was across the line in game 6).

Women's Soccer with 2 All Americans!

Kristen Hamilton, who was honored as a Third Team selection last season, was named First Team All-America for her efforts this fall. She is the first student-athlete in program history to be named First Team, while last year, she was the first-ever DU women’s soccer player to earn a Division I All-American honor. She has been named a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Award, the highest honor in collegiate soccer.

Nicholette DiGiacomo, Golden, CO, was honored as a Third Team All-American, after being named First Team All-Great Lakes Region earlier this week.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

Before I forget, the RPI faithfuls have started a game thread: http://board.uscho.com/showthread.p...-12-14)-The-Battle-of-the-Former-Asst-Coaches

Old Pio, are you and Dr D going to discuss movie trivia or...???

Back to Miami--a few weeks ago I would have been elated with a split, but my expectations after Friday's win were higher. Friday neither Barber or Czarnik scored a goal: Saturday they both did. As Monty said, it is hard to play against 2 All Americans.

The disallowed goal and the loss of the advantage of the 5 minute major by "too many men" (really boys you can use your fingers to count to 5. Don't even worry about Sam in goal.) And they did it again later which was one of the penalties I believe the announcer missed entirely. I know we joke abut Jay but at least he will go back and mention what the penalty was if he missed it and he keeps us entertained.

BTW, Nick Neville scored his first collegiate point Saturday. Congrats to Nick.

Two questions:
1. Is anybody else surprised that Monty plays freshmen Vanvoorhis and Neville together as a defensive pair?
2. Will we see Nolan Zajac play defense again this year? (2a. If Butcher makes the WJC, is there any other D man besides Zajac?)

Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

This is incredible. If they can keep this up, and Brittain can keep being ridiculous, they may prove my pessimism wrong!
Even with the loss Saturday,
Sam's stats: 1.71 GAA (3rd) .944 Sv % (4th), 3 shutouts (tied for 1st)
PK still 1st at 91.5% and Power Play is 4th at 25 %
