Just back from the Springs. Saw a good hockey tonight. AF is well coached. They played a very solid game throughout and should have gotten a W. In the history of their program they have never knocked off CC and DU in the same season. They played well enough to do that tonight in my opinion. It will be interesting to see if DU comes back with more tomorrow night. AF beat DU to pucks all night, was more physical all over the ice, trapped the heck out of DU all night and shut down their PP. Agreed with what Monty said in the post game about how some DU players were no-shows. As long as that is acceptable/happening this team isn't really a team.

The Miller presentation was great tonight. After the game he got a pretty extended handshake and hug from Serratore and the AF assistants as well as the refs, was in on the stick salute, and left the ice with his arms raised in the air. Several pockets of more knowledgable fans gave him an ovation as he walked off the ice. Another bittersweet moment for this season. Thrilled for him, and so proud to have had him for 20 years, but I feel like it was just a matter of time. What an asset to DU hockey history. The guy deserves a parade.

Now the DU coaching staff has no hair at all! :)

It's nice the team has won seven of ten games at home, but now the hard work begins. The schedule will show the players, coaches and fans how successful the team will be this season as fourteen of the next twenty games are on the road.

I'm a bit of a Debbie Downer here, but my guess is that it won't matter at all. I have a feeling that by then they will have also lost enough other games that the Canisius game will be in the fog of memory.

Here's hoping I'm wrong...

I don't understand how the points are scored for the standings. They don't add up. I'm too lazy to go back to that page (it would require me to hitting the back button). Take a look and you'll see what in mean.

3 Points for a win, 0 points for a loss (regulation or OT). 2 Points for a shootout win, 1 Point for a shootout loss.

There are 3 points available for each game in the NCHC. A win in regulation or overtime is worth 3 points. If the game is still tied after overtime, each team receives 1 point. The winner of the shootout receives the extra point and ends up with a total of 2 points for a shootout win. The shootout does not count in anything but the NCHC standings. They go down as ties for all national rankings and PWR. There was no shootout last Friday against Air Force as it was a non-conference game. DU won the shootout on Friday against CC a few weeks back and won the Saturday game out right. For that weekend DU won 5 of the 6 available league points.

As this is a bye week, the team has the week off and the boys have gone home to enjoy Thanksgiving with their families. They will re-assemble after the holiday to prepare for the roadie to Miami the following weekend.

I agree wholeheartedly. Miller is a class act. If he’s sitting in your living room recruiting your son, Miller is a guy that you can trust. I wish him all the best.

Congrats to Moore--well deserved. Last week he was nominated for both Rookie and Offensive player.nd Makowski for Defense. And Sam was the Goalie of the Week. Just a nomination for Sam this week, but his stats were better than the winner, Massa of UNO who is from Denver.

On the NHL level Bozak returns tonight and Beau Bennett is out.
Bennett appeared to also be injured while blocking a shot on Friday against the Islanders. He didn't travel with the Penguins on their current two-game road trip, and Bylsma's earlier assessment of Bennett's expected time out of the lineup was ominous.

“Not days,” Bylsma said, suggesting that the 21-year-old forward could miss an extended period of time. "

Air Force always brings passion to the ice. Saturday was no exception. Frank Serratore has these young men playing a gritty/grinder style. It’s very fast paced. They’re all about winning the one-on-one battles and are very detail oriented on all areas of the ice. Thus far, this has been the best team at taking away time and space from DU’s skilled players. They shut down DU’s outstanding scoring defensemen. I can see why Monty wants to emulate this type of play. So why didn’t Air Force win? Simple, DU has more skilled players. DU’s talent overcame all the pressure that was thrown at them. This was the most exciting game that DU played this year. What a great way to go into the Thanksgiving break. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

It's not so much an opinion as just a feeling. Like I said, I hope I'm wrong. At the end of the season, when we get our tournament bid, I will be more than happy to reread that post and admit that I was way off base.

The injury bug continues to plague Beau Bennett. He is out 8 to 10 weeks after having surgery on a broken wrist/hand he injured against the Islanders last Friday.

Tyler Bozak returned to the Leafs line-up last night after being out with a hamstring injury.

Wonder if it is the same wrist that Beau hurt whil he was at DU?
Looks like Beau's right wrist was the one with a ruptured tendon.
