Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

ASAAG, that's a glutton punishment.:D
Which is almost as bad as cc's power play which is crawling along at 3.6%:p

DU's power play at 25.5% is better than the last 4 years and the same can be said for the penalty kill at 90%
Sam Brittain's stats are in the top 10 nationally.
Q Shore has quietly put up 8 points. Time for him to stop hitting posts and begin a goal scoring string.
Makowski tied for most points with Q. LaLeggia has 7.
Moore, Marcinew and Butcher are showing skill and talent
Danny Doremus is coming on strong and is ready to breakout with a flurry of goals.
Ty Loney is a streaky goal scorer He has had success against cc
Emil Romig is off NCAA suspension this weekend and Evan Janssen came back last week.
Zac "Viva" Larraza could be back.
I am definitely ready for the Pio offense to kick some azz!

Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

I'm looking for some information from Denver area locals. I'll be going to Denver January 10-12 on a dual-purpose trip. The plan is to arrive in Denver Friday morning, do a little sightseeing during the day, and then catch the SCSU/Denver game on Friday night. Saturday morning I'll be driving to Longmont for a hobby show, and then Saturday night I'll go to the 2nd game.

I'm currently trying to find a somewhat affordable hotel, but I'm not sure what area to look in. Something centrally located with easy access to Magness, Longmont, and the airport would be ideal, but I don't know the area and don't want to end up in a sketchy part of town. Do you guys have any advice on areas to look at?

I meant to respond, then it slipped my mind when my ostomy bag sprung a leak. If you've got the time, this joint is a great place for a steak. When I went there as an undergraduate, the place was full of cattlemen there for the National Western Stock Show. One of the two or three best steaks I've ever had.

Matt Tabrum and Larkin Jacobson have been quite so far as they were last year until we played the tiggies. They both had 2 goal weekends. No reason they can't again this year.

Visited the website and started to salivate.:o

For the history and for the view, I always think of the Buckhorn Exchange near downtown and The Fort in Morrison.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

Vizoroo: That's the spirit. We have had a slow start. Long season and teams get hot. Even the top teams will run into cold streaks. I have seen 6 games on PioVision. We play hard, but just can't finish. To some degree, that will balance out and we'll score some goals and get some signature wins.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

I was there for all of that and it was classic. Last year DU swept CC in this early series with Friday night's game ending in the Springs with Jussi Olkinoura getting a gamer for fighting. Great stuff!!!!

And he chipped a tooth!

DU Game Notes for this series.

Hawkinson is only players listed on injury list and he will get a medical red shirt for the season.

From Viva on Twitter
Zac Larraza ‏@zacLarraza16 31m
Finally cleared to play!!

Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

Is this the the first college game on big ice for the DU freshman? Personally, I would like to see Evan in net on Saturday.....regardless of how Sam does down there on Fri. Emotion aside, these should actually be pretty well matched teams

Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

Except to hear Jay describe it, the ice in the Springs is like playing on the Zeppelin landing field at Lakehurst.

It's most entertaining when the mic is still on, but the actual broadcast is on a commercial break.

"Boy, I just could not be farther from the ice up here..."

Coming back from the break: "Jay Stickney here, about a mile away from the ocean of ice here at the Colorado Springs World Arena"

Don't forget "flying solo," as if anybody in the audience gives a rat's a*s whether he's alone or has the Vienna Boys Choir in the booth with him. It's inside baseball. Nobody cares.

The guy is actually pretty good. It's just that he's got these quirks and crutches always ready to go. I would imagine he'll mention the Gold Pan even more than usual this weekend, because it appears to be about the only hardware either of these clubs will be contending for. Perhaps I'm hypercritical, who knows?
