Likewise, there are a lot of us on here that would be happy to do what we can to pitch in on things like this and continue your Dad's legacy if you know of areas where we can help out.

There was a major change in the program this year. The alumni volunteers (all friends of Chris' father) that were in in charge of this event in the past did not participate this year. There is some question of whether that was by mutual agreement.

In any organization, particularly ones made up of volunteers, a very small percentage of the participants actually do the work. These are the ones who can always find time to come to the meetings, be there to participate in the events and are willing to do the skut work (set up, tear down). And in the case at hand, it's not like organizing parents' weekend (important as it is) requires Prussian efficiency. Let them know you want to help. Speaking from long, sometimes bitter experience, you may occasionally be frustrated. But in the end it'll be worth it.

I made my first trip to Magness arena over the weekend, I was at the game Saturday. You guys have a very nice mulit-use facility and the staff was quite friendly and helpful. The DU fans that I spoke too were friendly and I had a great time at the game. Thank you for your hospitality hope to return it when you guys come to Omaha later in the season.

I was hoping that he would explain to us more about his wild weekend of crashing the parents' weekend before he gets banned. Hurry up, dude, tell us your sources!!! And tell Monty, too. He could use your insider's scoop on what the players' parents are confiding in you. He'd also appreciate knowing how bad the players' GPA's have plummeted in the month of October!!!

Glad you enjoyed it. As you could see, we are having some attendance issues so far this season. But the actual games were good, especially for the UNO fans. Two OT wins on the road makes for a good weekend for a traveling fan.

DU's apparently not on quarters anymore. They're on 1/8s.

Hockey Parents Weelend--the timing seemed weird, the week after Homecoming and Parents Weekend:confused: No mention of it until the game--seemed weird too.
I'm sure parents were concerned by the coaching change. As well as setting high standards Gwoz had a successful program both on the ice and in the classroom. Considering Miller's relationship with Gwoz I was surprised he agreed to stay this year. No question that had to help the transition. Couldn't help but believe he would be looking at other opportunities.

From my point of view the Hockey information has gone down hill since Erich Bacher left. The success of Lacrosse and the the admin's attempt to position ba$ketball as a premier sport hasn't helped. Randy Press doesn't seem to have it together or doesn't communicate with the coaches. He's not promoting the prgram thru the website and Twitter is supposed to be instantaneous, but "Tickets Available" once a day isn't a very good use. Or perhaps he knows nothing about the sport. Maybe the local hockey alumni could give him a few hints on what fans want. Mike Chambers or Paisley in the Colorado Springs paper is a better source of information.

Jersey Hitmen forward Evan Ritt commits to Denver - as a recruited walk-on. More of an energy line, PK guy. I've seen him play a few times this year in the newly formed USPHL.

Parents' Weekend was my dad's brainchild and is one of his legacies. He and my mom (plus a few others) organized the weekend for the first 23 years, until my dad's passing 5 years back.

I will be extremely unhappy if they have botched, in just five years, what my dad built.

Sorry to hear about all your dad's hard work being disrespected. Tell John and the other volunteers hi for me and thank them for all their service over the years.

In discussing Parents Weekend, I would be remiss in not recognizing the volunteer efforts of the Shore family and the Cook family. These parents live in town and have opened their homes and hearts to families of DU hockey players. Parents of players share a unique bond. They share not only the concerns I've mentioned but hopes and dreams for their sons. Thank you.

This weekend's series is generating next to no conversation/interest given that: neither team is in the top twenty; neither team so much as received a vote in this week's USCHO poll; CC is 1-5 on the season and 0-5 in its past five games; Denver is 0-3 in its past three games and 1-5 in its last six and the teams are a combined 0-8 in their past eight contests; the teams have a combined 0-6 record in overtime this season. Quite frankly, on the length and breadth of college hockey's landscape, this weekend's games may be [among] the least anticipated of the season thus far.

One of the first things that popped into my mind when the NCHC was announced was how easy it would be to finish last. I hope we don't find out, and I really hope that this great rivalry doesn't turn into the battle for the Not Last Pan...

Tough teams ahead, despite what we thought was a pretty boring and easy schedule many months ago.

Hmmm, "a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part." Like, say, somebody who doesn't already have tickets to this potential abortion on ice buying tickets to both games.
