Mike Chambers on DU's Tri-Captains.
Makowski will be the only C on the ice this weekend. Should LaLeggia and Doremus wear an A tonight?

Didier was injured against Alaska on Friday. Had 5 blocked shots in that game. He came back to play the rest of that game and against UAA on Saturday.

Sadly, I'm going to miss that recognition for two of our great national championship teams (although I was there when they won those titles). I'll be AWOL tonight, watching my 6'4", 280 pound all state great nephew push people around in a game against their biggest rival.

So good luck to the Pios tonight. A tip of the hat to our great championship teams. And I'll join you tomorrow night.

Has that 280 pounder learned to skate yet? He could just stand in front of the goal and dare people to get near! We could call him the Pio Pounder.
Seriously, is he being recruited to play D-1 football?

So far: Stanford, Southern Cal, Cal and Nebraska. There will be more. He wants to play for Stanford. Has straight As. He's a junior, was named all state honorable mention last year. Next year it should get hectic. The only ice that kid has ever seen is in an Orange Julius, sadly.

However, the thought of him cross checking Rocco Grimaldi (just to name one) into the next zip code has crossed by mind.

INJURY REPORT...
• Freshman Emil Romig is serving an NCAA suspension for playing
in professional games overseas - he is eligible to return on Nov. 8 at
Colorado College.
• Freshman Evan Janssen is not available this weekend due to injury.
• Sophomore Garrett Allen is questionable for this weekend’s games.
• Junior Josiah Didier is listed as questionable this weekend.

DU left Brad Hawkinson off of the list who is reportedly done for the season and will have shoulder surgery.

With a 25-man roster, DU will have 20 eligible players tonight including 3 goalies and 17 skaters.

Is Larraza back this weekend?

No on ice recognition for the championship teams and the new media board was a bust but a great choir, a packed student section and an appearance by Boone.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

Nice to see Ogard get some ice time, this early in the season. Wasn't expecting that from Monty. Nice move. So #3, from the club team....is he "up" for good, now that Hawk is out for the year? Or is he just here until they get some injured guys back?

I think Toriumi is "up" for good, but that doesn't mean he'll dress regularly if we ever get healthy. As I understand per Viz (I think explained it), he wasn't "called up" from the club team, he made it on during an open tryout at the beginning of the season. He did play a handful of shifts last night. Coach was using the fourth line quite a bit towards the end- we were really hoping for a Wade Bennett or Sean Toriumi goal!

Does Cowley play tonight?

And I know it got mentioned in the score thread, but the poor PA guy (the backup to Connor, who does Avs games too), got clocked pretty darn hard on top of the head at the end of the first. He made the last two announcements of the period holding a towel to his head, was bleeding pretty good, and missed the entire second period. Some staff guy stepped in for him, and when he came back from concussion protocol and probably a few stitches, he was sporting a brand new DU hat, still with the stickers and all. It was an interesting sideline saga.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

Hoosier after the 7th man discussion or as jay calls it Rudy for DU. I couldn't see any club hockey player coming up before Sean Toriumi. The 3rd goalie tends to be the call up by the coach. Hope and Rosenholtz were not playing hockey. Club rugby for Hope I think. Zach Blom probably had a leg up as a walk on due to Dad, Buddy's connection. He had been playing in the NAHL prior to coming to DU.

If Chambers is correct and and Monty wants to bring on another player at Christmas, he would have to be a current student, Rudy II, OR admitted to DU for winter quarter and going through the NCAA clearinghouse process. (forgot just 1 word:o)

Larraza may be back next weekend, but can't see bringing him back tonight.
Ogard playing :)

Monty said last night he will have 2 of the injured players back next weekend. He did not name them. Bringing a player on after the first quarter could be a new student and not necessarily an existing student. He would have to be admitted to the school and cleared by the NCAA.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

Quentin Shore's goal reminded me of:

2005 Frozen Four Columbus, Ohio

Stastny, who scored his 16th and 17th goals of the season, posted his fourth multi-goal game of the season and the game-winner (his first since Dec. 3) that was a redirection of a Ulanski shot that beat UND goalie Jordan Parise after it deflected off Stastny's butt.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

Bozie out 7 to 10 days with a lower body injury for Leafs. Beau Bennett on IR with Pens.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

What happened tonight? DU thinking they had a laydown opponent? Honestly, Brittain looked .... bad. All kinds of missed passes too. The air gets more turbulent from here on out..... here come the League teams.
