Welcome back DG! Just a short summer off. Now all we need to do is get Swami out from the caves.

BBM: You are so wrong about people at the blog wanting to fire Peg. Don't pay attention to anonymous comments by people with an axe to grind. We just won another Director's Cup. Peg made great hires in Tierney and Scott. Monty looks like a very qualified successor to Gwoz. The Summit League is embarrassing, but if we did not get in their, it would have been NCAA death trying to survive as an independent. DU would not pay the entrance fee to the Missouri Valley Conference which would have been a great home for us. We'll move someplace better if the opportunity comes along. (hopefully soon) Denver is just located so far from most division 1 schools and those in state have strong ongoing league ties. Please know that Peg did not fire Gwoz. She was only the messenger.

Thank you.

Its good to be back with LetsGoDU and its great to see some of the original posters slinging mud just like the old days.

The "Mascot Debate" was a bruising battle. Not sure which side "won," but no one can deny it was a victory for social media and Facebook.

On the hockey front, its very disappointing that the NCHC is going to the shootout. I have nothing against the shootout, but get rid of the 5 minute overtime. All these changes to college hockey such as the shootout and instant replay, lead to longer and longer games. What is being done to shorten the games?

Think Monty is making the right moves building bridges to the alums, in Minny and at the Campus Lounge earlier this year, and the season ticket holders.

Now, when do the captain's practices begin? May we assume that Brittain and Makowski, as seniors are, at least for now, the de facto team leaders or could it be some combination of the 4 in the Ally awards picture--Brittain, Didier, Larraza, or Jacobson?

Didn't you hear they banned the trap.

Former Pio Scott Mayfield weighs in on BoScott Mayfield ‏@scottmayfield2 53m
Not sure who Theresa Mueller is but I don't think any students wanted a new mascot #embarrassinglies http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/08/20...dministration/ … one on Twitter.

Theresa Mueller is an "External Specialist", whatever that means, in the Marketing and Communications Division. You remember them, the ones in charge of the survey and other "we decided what the DU Community wants, no matter what they say" mascot correspondence.

"Boone was a polarizing figure that did not reflect the growing diversity of the
UD community", according to author Perry Chiaramonte.

Perry added that "Boone does however reflect the growing diversity, or lack thereof, of the ED community..."

Dont see this posted anywhere, but I have confirmed that Landon Smith will play for Salmon Arm of the BCHL this year. Transfer has already been made and Smith is in their camp.

Thanks herbst20, our eye on the USHL. Landon had 2 goals in the Black and White game that ends Silverbacks training camp. Not shown on the roster yet.

Chris Knowlton is playing in Tongsberg, Norway. Older bro, Patrick, is currently there on a try out.

Speaking of brothers, little Mikey Testwuide is playing in the Asian League for Anyang Halla, Anyang, South Korea

Why do the Canadian colleges play so many exhibitions compared to Americans? UNB plays like 5 or 6 times before they hit Magness.

More quotes from Terry Frei and Gwoz that didn't make Thursday's story in the Post.

Luke Fulghum and Aaron Mackenzie re-upped with the Cutthroats. Open tryouts end today.

Monty, hockey alums Jim Wiste and Rod Summers won the Floyd Thread Golf Tournament.

The Denver Outlaws lost for the first time in 364 days. It wasn't DU's Eric Law's fault. His nine goals set a MLL postseason record and tied the league mark for any game, as well as established Outlaws records in both categories. The Outlaws came back from an 11-2 deficit before succumbing 17-14.

Women's Soccer

Colorado Cup--DU defeated both cc and Northern Colorado this weekend. Senior Kristen Hamilton scored her 100th point in the Northern game.

Hamilton is also a nominee for Lowe's CLASS award.

Looks like a nice pick-up who will arrive at the earliest in 2 years as he is starting his junior year of high school. Earlier this summer he was at the Team USA Selects 16 Camp and was selected to the Blue All Star Team. He was on the All Star Blue Team with DU recruit Troy Terry.

That's pronounced "war-sar", right?
