Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

Yes, Virginia, there is a DU ProCamp.
Mike Chambers

Incoming DU freshman goalie Evan Cowley (FLA, 92nd 2013) taking shots to conclude shinny/pro camp at Magness Arena
Video on Twitter and Denver Post Sports page.
Haven't seen anything on DU website.
Except, Ron Grahame promoted to Associate Vice Chancellor, Women's BBall has 8th highest GPA in the nation-3.52, and Swimming and Diving adding 14 new faces.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

Now Northeastern thinks they are tourney bound. Getting a player interested in signing with DU is a major step for NE hockey in their eyes only.

Chambers blurb on the pro camp. BTW Steve Miller tweeted the other day that Colborne won the Orange in the Orange Lemon Shootout. Also Veideman and Skinner won the alum golf tourney with Bozak and Maiani in second. Gwoz and new Coach Monty also played in the golf tourney.

Hmmm....I've looked all through these boards as well as the internal NU (not NE) boards and can't find a single soul looking to jump on any tourney bandwagons. Maybe you should try another flavor of that funny stuff you folks voted to legalize.

Anyway, this resolution is in the best interests of both schools. Now on to other things.

Please cite any evidence of this before typing dumb things that aren't true. No Northeastern fan thinks anything of the sort. Anyway, that'll be my only response, this is a Denver thread.

One benefit of resolving this trivial matter: presumably NU types will stop burbling here about their underachieving program. Like somebody once said: "Don't go away mad. . ."

Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

Is DU hosting the US Hockey Hall of Fame Game again this year? It's not specified on the schedule. If they're not - anyone know where it will be?

Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

Sounds like Gwoz has a new job.

@CoachGwoz Special weekend for me - fantastic to reconnect. Enjoy the broadcasting but look forward to seeing you behind the bench again!

Where and when is the question. Couldn't find it in any of the usual places.

No big deal. It has happened before. It will happen again. We're often in on the same kids.

We are NU, not NE. We may have had an underachieving hockey program recently, but, more importanly, we have an overachieving University.

Thanks for the hospitality (even to Old Pio). Enjoy the season with your new mascot. :)

Was I being hospitable? Let's go to the video tape. :p
And all these years I thought NU stood for Northwestern.

Hasn't been announced yet. The Class of 2013 was only announced on July 9th. With Chris Chelios having been selected, it wouldn't surprise me that Wisconsin would be one of the teams in the game and possibly host it.

Forbes just released its rankings of colleges and universities. DU is ranked #103. Northeastern is ranked in the 200s.
NU Overachieving? I think not:p

Northeastern always shows badly on the Forbes rankings because undergrad education at Northeastern is based on the cooperative education system, which tacks on a 5th undergrad year in order to integrate actual experience in business, industry, and the professions with classroom study and research after Freshman year. Forbes measures only four-year graduation rates, which would include only the minority of the NU undergrad student body that opted to bypass the co-op program.

A better and more widely recognized measure is the US News and World Report National University Rankings, in which NU is #56 and DU is #83.

Hummmmm... the Pro Camp looks interesting. Is it open to the public? They could hold a final scrimmage on a weekend afternoon and charge admission ?? Maybe have Montgomery and Tenzer commentating on the Public Address?? Just an idea. i would pay to watch all those guys in a fun, loose setting

Thanks, Split-N. You beat me to it.

You might have added that in educational circles, the Forbes college survey enjoys the same disrespect that Forbes Magazine has earned for itself in financial circles.

Additionally, NU had approximately 48,000 applications for 2800 places in the freshman class entering in September and that the median SAT scores of those enrolling was between 1375 and 1390.

Let's just say that both schools rank in the U.S. News top 100, and that each has a lot to be proud of.:)

College Lax- US all- American game on ESPNU now. Quint Kessenich has DU ranked #2 behind Cuse in his never too early pre-season rankings. Picks Wes Berg as one of five Teewardon finalists.
