Re: All Things Denver--XXXV

DU stays 6th in PWR after completion of all of Sunday's games. Important for DU to beat CC this weekend to stay as a 2nd seed in PWR. Technically, UND, DU and BC are tied for 5th in PWR with their RPIs acting as the tie breaker. Their RPIs are .5423 (UND), .5408 (DU) and .5407 (BC). Pretty tight race between DU and BC. UNH is in 8th with an RPI of .5401. Should they beat CC and move on to the WCHA Final Five, DU should have a 2nd seed pretty much locked up.

Re: All Things Denver--XXXV

As long as we don't get a #1 seed--that would pretty much guarantee that we'll be one and done.

Not that I'm complaining, but how in the world did we get so high in the PWR???

Gwoz said in the post game interview that DU has either the most difficult or 2nd-most difficult (or something like that) schedule in the country.

In the RPI calculation DU has the #2 SOS (Strength of Schedule) right behind CC. Top 5 are CC, DU, UND, UAA & SCSU. In KRACH (not used by NCAA), DU is #1 in SOS. Scheduling out of conference games with strong opponents is very important. DU played Yale (7), Cornell (11), UNH (13), BU (19), UMass Lowell (35) and Air force (51) in out of conference games. The WCHA SOS included the 5 already mentioned as 1 -5 plus MN (16), MSU (27), WI (32), BSU (38), MTU (42), UMD (43) and UNO (45). Props go out to the DU staff for putting together such a strong schedule and for DU winning some big games against those teams that also have strong schedules. Had DU beaten Yale and UNH, DU would likely be a #1 seed.

Re: All Things Denver--XXXV

Couldn't bearing cc knock the tiggies out as a Tuc, hurting our placement?

Using CHN's customization tool, a DU sweep of CC did knock them off the TUC cliff. Although, it didn't hurt us too bad. Stayed at #7. Disclaimer: there's a lot of variables with their customization tool - I tried to pick all of the favorites sweeping this weekend, but probably had at least a few mistakes.

Had DU beaten Yale and UNH, DU would likely be a #1 seed.

This looks true, using CHN's tool I got DU to #4 switching these games.

Yeah but the satisfaction of keeping '57 alive will outweigh any short term PWR issues.

The best place for DU to end up is #8 or #9 in the Pairwise in Quinnipiac's grouping.

Re: All Things Denver--XXXV

Viz, I'm sorry, but could you rephrase this question,? I don't get it.
Maybe I can step in. I think the question was this: "if we beat CC, could that decrease CC's PWR ranking to the point where CC would no longer be a "Team Under Consideration"? If CC is no longer a TUC, would that hurt DU's PWR ranking?"

CC is close to the borderline for being a TUC. If DU beats CC, it could knock CC out of the TUC category. If CC is no longer a TUC, then our wins against them become far less helpful to our own PWR ranking.

That is my understanding of it.

That's what I was asking/thinking.

Re: All Things Denver--XXXV

Nice! Pat Weircioch just got into a fight. He got all kinds of penalties from it. I didn't know he had it in him He's got an NHL wrap sheet :o

Re: All Things Denver--XXXV

.5408 (DU) and .5407 (BC)
DU sure was over-rated back when they were ranked 1 slot behind BC nationally. ;)

And I second dg and everyone else about CC. Frankly, the idea of losing being a good thing in the long run is a tough one for me to swallow. Losing to CC is also a tough one to swallow.

2-instigating
2-instigating wearing a vizor
5-fighting
10-misconduct
Went after McQuaid(2 boarding and 5 fighting) who had just sent Chris Neil hard into the boards. Neil returned to the game later, Patrick did not.

I am in no way advocating losing to the tiggies.
Only by winning, we may take a hit in PWR, which of course can be rectified by winning 2 or possibly 3 in the Final Five.:)

You Pio's phone it in this weekend and don't push CC off the cliff, Bucky is never speaking to you again. Even though that is pretty much the long term plan anyway.

GO DU!!

The only thing the Pios are doing this weekend is skinning some Kitty Kats. DU sweeps in 2. BTW, I have heard the long term plan is That DU will play WI and MN regularly over the next few seasons.

It will be interesting to see how many people show up for this playoff series. I'm hoping a bunch but if previous years of playoff hockey games are any indication I should temper those expectations...... Boone shackles the kitty kats in 2

I believe that is correct, but after selling our soul to the $B1G$, being petty grudge holders will be a walk in the park. Better it doesn't come to that. ;)

Re: All Things Denver--XXXV

The worst thing about the forming of the Big Ten conference, is that we won't have Minnesota and Wisconsin to beat on a regular basis. I think our winning percentage may take a substantial hit.
