Re: All Things Denver--XXXV
I think it will be a blast to watch hockey at 11:00 a.m. Bizarre, but fun.

Nice! DU's Kristine Haugen wins the slalom, and DU's Tianda Carroll finishes 3rd. Great result for the DU women.
DU men about to do their 2nd run, DU men did well in the first run.
And there go DU's chances...two DU men completely messed up the slalom. Oh well, wait til next year. DU will be lucky to finish top 5 finish this year. (Edit: DU is in 3rd place right now, but would need a super-improvement in their 2nd day of XC in order to keep that spot. They better get some space-age wax on!)
Andy LeRoy had some great success as coach early on, winning 3 national titles in a row. He has also recruited some great skiers (see our women's alpine team today). But this is the 3rd year in a row with a mediocre result. I don't know enough to say whether coaching had anything to do with the busted men's slalom result today. In a sense, they had to go for it, in order to stay in contention. But when only a few racers had any real trouble with the course today, and two of them were DU skiers, it leaves some room to second guess. The poor result in the XC races also put too much pressure on the alpine team. I'll think about it over a beer at the hockey game...
