Re: All Things Denver XXXIII

Replying to a comment at the end of XXXII...

The good news is, whichever goalie DU starts (including Hope) probably wouldn't allow six goals in 35 minutes. :)

Re: All Things Denver XXXIII

I know the focus is on tonight and next week. But we heard earlier this week about a 150K remodel to the Pio locker room in Magness. That's way more than just getting rid of the donut in the carpet. Sounds like a major deal. Anybody got details of what's planned?

Those special mirrors that make the players seem taller than they really are. Gophers have had them for years.

They say the illusion has no effect on women.

Reminds me of that recent Supreme Court announcement that the pending pornography decision will be delayed, because of the amount of material that needs to be reviewed in executive session.

Ripping out walls, new everything, more of a "players lounge" atmosphere to keep up with the better locker rooms in college hockey.

Also mentioned was more "DU history" around the areas where the players and media congregate.

That sounds great. According to SI, emphasizing history has helped Indiana basektball.

Re: All Things Denver XXXIII

when your legs are gone there is no jump on the puck. on to the ncaa. i like our chances this team has shown heart and grit and we will see more of it.

Re: All Things Denver XXXIII

Some thoughts on where we go. First, I have a question. Will the 9-12 in pairwise definitely be the 3 seeds? If so...

3 Seeds would be BU, Maine, Denver, and either Lowell or Cornell. So my thinking is that the logical place for us would be St. Paul, or, if they don't want three WCHA teams in one region, Green Bay. It seems silly to ship DU out to the east coast, forcing an east coast team to get shipped to the midwest.

Another thought, my preference would be not to have to play until Saturday, with St. Paul being one of the regionals that starts on Saturday, with Worcester as the other.

I also don't know who the 3 hosts aside from Minnesota are, so I don't know how that would affect things.

Re: All Things Denver XXXIII

Just saw this.

Mike Chambers ‏ @MChambersDP

DU's Jason Zucker injured in third period, en route to local hospital for tests. @CoachGwoz said he doesn't know how serious

Re: All Things Denver XXXIII

Good Morning. Today is the day. Great run in the WCHA playoffs. We have every reason to stay positive heading into the tourney. All it takes is two wins and the boys are on the way to the beach. Gotta feel weird to be getting on a plane before the selection show. Pilot needs to get the bracket radioed in.

Re: All Things Denver XXXIII

Not the game we hoped for last night. Think Gwoz mentioned everyone was a step slow--not surprising. The Pios played with grit and energy, but the 6th game in 9 days....
We are in the NCAAs so that is the focus. That and getting enough players healthy enough to play.

Didn't see ehat happened to Zucker--anyone?

Selection show on espnu sucks!

If I remember correctly, there was a collision in the Sioux end, bench side between Zucker, a Sioux player, and another Denver player that resulted in Zucker having to leave to ice. I think that the other DU player rolled over the top of Zucker, and something got messed up.

Re: All Things Denver XXXIII

Barry Melrose proves once again he is the biggest, greasiest putz in college hockey. And the most uninformed. I swear he doesn't watch a game all season, just reads the script they hand him 10 mins before airtime.

Re: All Things Denver XXXIII

DU ends up where I thought they would with what seems to me to be a pretty favorable first round match-up in Ferris State. Hopefully Zucker is ok and will be in the line-up, same for Didier. And should Bennett come back, I can think of worse teams for a warm-up game for him than Ferris. Not that I'm assuming Ferris will be easy, but I would rather play them right now than Minnesota, Miami or Duluth. Furthermore, I think that of the 1st seeds, I would definitely rather draw Michigan (should we beat Ferris) than BC or North Dakota.

Here's a quick preliminary prediction for the teams going to Tampa: BC, Miami, Denver and Minnesota. (Pretty much no chance that I'm right, but who cares?)

I'll put money down that if Melrose calls a DU game, he will tell people all about our freshman defenseman Josiah Did-ee-ay.

Oh, and one last thought: GO AIR FORCE!!!!!!!!

Re: All Things Denver XXXIII

I like our bracket ( I actually like them all). It's going to be a great tourney! Go BIG RED! Knock off BIG BLUE!
