Re: All Things Denver XXXII

Guess it's my turn to get this going.

May we have a moment of silence for old pio still serving time in super max:(

Moment of silence recognized.

How long of a sentence did the guy get? Hopefully only one week. :)

It's pretty cool that we are now on the 32nd All Things DU thread!

Re: All Things Denver XXXII

Wow, we get a Zajac?? I thought they were all ND kinda guys (except for the Dad of course)
Are these three considered "blue Chip" recruits?

Is Quentin as good as Drew and/or Nick?
When Jared Mermis came to DU, there was much speculation that DU would then have a better chance to get Dakota.
Nolan--Zajac blood line, need we say more?

I'm going to take a shot at this one.

- Yes, I believe Quentin is just as good, I believe he has a laser slap shot among other things
- I seem to recall that Dakota was the prize and that Jared was recruited to help sway Dakota to come to DU.
- I don't understand why the other Zajacs went to ND when their father went to DU. (I need some help on this one)

DG, Du78?

Of the four Zajac boys two went to UND,one went to Union and one is coming to DU.

The family lives in Winnipeg so UND is just a short drive down the highway. Not many families have four sons who play college hockey so we should probably just commend the family for a great accomplishment.

Dakota Mermis may have been the best 15 year old hockey player in the USA when his youth team won the National Championship. At the time he was mentioned as a potential 1st round draft pick, but 5'10 180 lbs. defenseman aren't drafted by NHL teams so its likely he'll spend three or four years at DU.

If the family pattern is consistent, look for Quentin to make a splash his Sophomore season. I think we'll have a better read of Quentin's potential after the NHL Draft.

Good win for DU tonight. Hopefully, DU can get the sweep tomorrow.

Look for Joe Colborne to be possibly called up to the Leafs tomorrow due to injuries.

Good win for DU tonight..lots of skill goals, despite being outplayed for the first half of the game.

My first star is Joey LaLeggia...great game by him in both ends. He was seeing the ice very well, getting into position, and making the right passes.

a close second is the entire 4th line. Knowlton, Jackson, and Ostrow were all over the ice, winning the battles, and getting the puck deep. Everything you want a 4th line to do.

got very chippy at the end, should be an interesting melee tomorrow!

good to see the boys get the scoring machine humming after a sloppy first. Most of the five goals in the second were beauties. i felt like we should of been up 3-0 instead we go in tied 2-2 after 1. PP produced (2-5) but only had 5 shots--one on a 5-3. Only 12 mins of P's for the Pios--which is an improvement. i think winning last week was key--gave them confidence. Little Strow had a solid game 14-5 on face offs, a goal and +2. Most of the five goals in the second were beauties. Dusty finally came to life last weekend and looked even stronger tonight--beating people in the puck battles and charging the net. He set up a blue collar goal for Strow in the first. My favorite goal was the LaLeggia to Shore to LaLeggia give and go. UNO did a could job of surpressing Beau. Zucker is clutching his stick still, holding on to the puck too long--being selfish. Stupid for him to take a penalty late.

need the two points tomorrow--would jump past uno into 3rd place.

It will be interesting to see what kind of adjustments Blais makes tomorrow. I felt like uno didn't pinch us very hard. Listed attendance was only 4.2K.

Colborne Called Up

Leafs News
The Toronto Maple Leafs have called up top prospect Joe Colborne and he is expected to make his season debut tonight against the Washington Capitals. The “Paperboy” (as nicknamed by his teammates – because he looks twelve and always delivers) had gotten off to a torrid start in the AHL with 19 points in 12 games played before sitting out a handful of games to injury. He is expected to skate alongside Joey Crabb, with whom he demonstrated plenty of chemistry while on the Marlies’ top line and David Steckel. The trio should be able to generate a strong cycle game down low.
