I didn't get to watch tonight's game but it sounds like a drunk interrupted the moment of silence for your coach's father. Real classless act. One of our players went to Twitter to call him out as well. My condolences to coach Monty.

Drunk or not, I hope that ***hole gets banned from attending games at the REA for a good while. Total dick move. That guy should be ashamed of himself.

Agreed. Apparently it was a student. Do they still have student season tickets? If so, and if this person had season tickets, the University should strip him of his season tickets. Regardless, the University should impose a lengthy ban on the student from attending any University sponsored events. It looks absolutely awful for the University and its alumni. Shameful.

It was nice to see the players get on this guy's case...

And to the idiot that yelled during the moment of silence. Give your head a shake. And never enter the Ralph again.

Hopefully they do another moment of silence tonight and our fans behave themselves. What a disgrace.

Re: All Things Denver, XXX1X

Denver caught a bit of a break last night, in that despite losing 4-2, it remained in 9th place in the PWR. While I suppose it's possible it's hard to imagine that a two-loss, no-point weekend would keep Denver in 9th place in the PWR. I hope the Pioneers get off to a much better start in the first period tonight and that Cowley/Jaillet isn't faced with an onslaught of shots in the game's first ten minutes. A win on the road in Grand Forks always represents a job well done.

From Monty:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p>Thank you <a href="https://twitter.com/UNDmhockey">@UNDmhockey</a> 4 the moment of silence 4 my Dad & to the great people in hockey who have reached out. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/classymove?src=hash">#classymove</a></p>— Jim Montgomery (@DUCoachMonty) <a href="https://twitter.com/DUCoachMonty/status/566572621547196417">February 14, 2015</a></blockquote>

Regardless of our differences, the hockey family always rallies around each other in our time of need.

Re: All Things Denver, XXX1X

Glad to hear Nick Shore has been playing in the big leagues...what a talented family, and hopefully Baker will follow suit and come to DU.

Didn't get to catch Friday's game, but saw Saturday night. Outstanding effort from Trevor Moore--OK, his hit was questionable and cost his team with the 5 min. major. But nice to see him playing with some fire--to rebound from that and score two goals plus the overtime winner shows the competitive fire in this kid. Very impressive.

Good job by Cowley in shutting down ND in the shootout. Solid.

So sad to hear about coach's Dad. What a tough time for him, and I wish him the best. As to the stupid fan who couldn't control himself during a moment of silence...only in North Dakota, I guess. Sure, one bad apple, but hard to picture that happening in most other places. Hopefully the ND fanbase handles that idiot on their own. Maybe a beatdown with a pillow case full of soap bars behind the arena.

Haven't checked the PWR ratings lately, but I assume we are in decent shape.

Excellent win over Duke in lacrosse. You never know how things will pan out, but the lax team is well-situated to do some great things this year. It would be nice to get that first D-1 championship from a "third" sport.

To the bolded part: every single solitary Sioux fan and player chastised this fan on twitter and in person after he did it. He was banned for the arena for the rest of the season and got a Minor in Possesion of Alcohol, which was great karma. Do not project one moronic fan's incredibly douchiness to an entire fanbase or the town of Grand Forks when every other person condemned it. Coach Monty received many tweets and messages from our fans(including myself) and made a point to tweet out the thanks for the support and the moment of silence to UND. So excuse me if the comment "only in ND" and "can't imagine the happening in other places" irks me just a bit.

Agreed. This type of behavior happens everywhere, unfortunately. Having lived in Colorado for the past 8 years, and having attending DU for the past 3.5 years, I've seen many similar types of disgraceful conduct committed by the people of Denver, people of Colorado, and students of DU. To pretend this wouldn't have happened elsewhere, is simply absolute ignorance.

Of course, that doesn't excuse the actions of the student. I hope that he gets further punishment than what has already been doled out.

If UND took that action, then I'm impressed. And yes, the tweets from the UND players are very commendable.

FS 23: I have to disagree. I don't think that yelling something disrespectful during a moment of silence for a recently deceased family member of a coach "happens everywhere." If it does, then our society is much worse than I thought. We have all experienced stupid behavior at sporting events, but this one is in a different category.

Anyway, sorry I brought it up. It's tough to ignore, and of course DU fans are upset about what happened...but the focus should rightly be on condolences to the Montgomery family, as was done by UND and 99.99% of their fans in attendance.

You missed my point. I'm not saying that this exact situation happens everywhere, but that this type of behavior happens everywhere. To think that it only would happen in North Dakota is absolutely ridiculous.

FS23 is right. This stuff happens in a lot of places. Was the incident classless? Definitely. However, this is not an isolated incident to North Dakota. Thank you to the fans who shamed the fan in the arena and on twitter ect.
