She is probably a 'junior' academically at DU, but has perhaps used up her NCAA eligibility given that she is now 26 years old. She had some time at the University of Darmstadt and was also in the German Army prior to DU, so that may also be a factor in determing when she finishes her NCAA eligibility.

Those were my first 2 thoughts, but now I'll put my mind in gear.


Big Kudos to Chevy, Rock, Ruegs, Paddy, Jumbo, Dono and the Gwoz! And to Eli--we can count him as part of the extended family, right? (Ruegs has a great story too, but a 4.0 Rhodes Scholar candidate is hard to beat.)

It was his uncle who played at DU, correct? (friend of Bagman's) Wasn't his nickname "the alphabet man?"

That was UND's 4th game in 7 nights and tomorrow will be their 5th in 8 nights.

Yeah, and I'd like to be playing them in say, Tibet. But I don't think it'll make much difference. They'll have fire in their eyes, count on it.

This is a dilemma match-up for me. One part of me wants the Pios to win the Final Five and go into the NCAAs with momentum. Another part of me knows that a loss right now can let the team know how hard they need to work to win the ultimate prize! DU's 2005 team won all the hardware and therefore showed that they were an incredible team. The '04 team showed that some rest was very beneficial and, in fact, stole the championship. I guess we shall see.:)

I only quote myself to give Old Pio an opportunity to offer his exegesis. :)

My exegesis is in the shop--waiting for parts. It got recalled, something about unexpected acceleration.

I hope the boys brought some blankets to give to the Sioux during the traditional pregame giving of gifts.
This will of course be followed by an airing of grievances, about how they attempted to stop our manifest destiny.
There will also be feats of strength where we punch Hextall in the face.

Pre bump!! I like our chances tonight for the folowing reasons:

1- ND will be playing it's 5th game in 7 days
2- They just played a hard fought game last night
3- DU is well rested
4- I thought UND looked sloppy last night
5- We have an awesome team

On another note, it sucks that we will be without Nutini and Wrenn!!!

I think the Sioux are a much better team vs. the last time Denver played them. Last night, UND handily beat a UMD team that was fighting for its NCAA life -- shut them out. They have Hextall back in the lineup, who was a crucial link in the Sioux PP back when they sputtered in Jan. vs DU when Hexy was hurt. Gregoire is on fire (9 points in last 4 games?), and they get Frattin back from suspension. I think the Sioux are going to have far more motivation to beat Denver than Denver does in beating the Sioux.

If DU wins tonight, great. But if they don't, that's okay, too.

This tournament is for pride only. Next week means something.

For those that watched the game last night. WCHA referee "#57" caught a puck to the side of the face and after a long session with UND's trainer couldn't stop the bleeding. He was replaced by a back-up ref.

UND may have handily beat UMD but I think both teams played sloppy and looked tired. Offense was at a premium last night and even though UND outshot UMD, most of the shots were from far out and easy saves. When called on Reiter did make a couple of good close-in saves. I thought the passing on both teams was poor last night. Passes were picked off left and right by poor decision making on the part of both teams. Neither team cycled the puck well down low.

If DU can make crisp passes and play their game by cycling the puck down low and tiring the UND defense, I see them winning. Chevy is a wall in the net and I expect a big performance from him when called on this evening. It is probably going to be a more physical game than last night and we need Jumbo to get mad and lift his game up like he did last weekend. I am looking forward to the Rock and Ruegs show on offense. I don't know if UND will be able to contain Jesse Martin's line as everyone is concerned with Rock, Ruegs and Jumbo.

Linesman Bob Keltie. On weekdays, he's a lawyer in Colorado, and works many DU games for the WCHA. Even went to DU law school.

I like your optimism!! I also thought they looked very average last night. Did you see the Hextall pass to nowhere? :rolleyes: Even the announcers (who were complete dorks by the way) made some comment about ill advised passes.
