Re: All things Denver XXVI: From Boonetown to Motown

Just moments ago...

This week's winner of the orange: Joe Brehm.
This week's winner of the lemon: Shawn Ostrow.

Thanks for the update. I would expect Shawn Ostrow to be a regular in the line-up next season. It has now been well over a year since his major knee surgery and it should be much stronger next season. Before he got hurt in Camrose last season he was an offensive force. He was not supposed to return at all last season and did make it back for some playoff games.

Re: All things Denver XXVI: From Boonetown to Motown

Tyler Bozak had a goal and an assist tonight in the Leafs 4-3 win over Tampa Bay. He had the 3rd Leaf goal early in the 3rd period to put the Leafs up 3-2 but TB came back to tie it. He assisted on Phil Kessel's OT goal to win the game 4-3. Tyler has 5 goals and 10 assists for 15 points in 22 games. Former UVM player Viktor Stalberg had the Leafs' first 2 goals. Three ex-NCAA players scored all 4 Leafs goals tonight.

Tough break for the DU XC boys with the waxing. Obviously the women had better skis in the morning but the conditions changed in the afternoon. BTW tomorrow's slalom races are under the lights in Steamboat on Howelsen Hill. First time I can remember any of the NCAA races being held in the evening.

Bozak's OT assist was gorgeous.

Bozak's OT assist was gorgeous.

Just watched the Game in 6 Minutes and what a treat to see Bozak's play making. Absolutely great. The goal he scored reminded me of the way he used to set up Salazar.

He scored the goal off of someone else's stick? :D

Re: All things Denver XXVI: From Boonetown to Motown

Tonight is night for both the skaters and the skiers to put up a big W (or two in the case of the skiers. )

Re: All things Denver XXVI: From Boonetown to Motown

Good luck this weekend against Tech... but I gotta warn ya, A Shot and a Goal... I have to root for Miami against DU on April 10th. ;)

It would be very nice if the arena would give us ski results at the game tonight when they become available. We did actually get scores from around the league last week on the screen, so its possible to hope for it!

Bump.

A win tonight, but being at the game I thought there was too much of the "We'll win based on our oodles of NHL talent." When you play gritty, hard-working, blue-collar teams....sometimes you need to get in their, battle, and get dirty!

How do you post a picture on here?

DU battled. I think the final exams had a lot of DU guys without much sleep last night, which is probably why they rolled four lines tonight.

With the exams over, I think the first line will see more ice tomorrow and DU should have a better performance.

Re: All things Denver XXVI: From Boonetown to Motown

Big day tomorrow for the freestlye X/C skiers. They will be trying to wrap up DU's 21st NCAA Skiing Championship.

Re: All things Denver XXVI: From Boonetown to Motown

Haven't you guys been saying DU's weakest events are XC? Who's real good at it? And how well do we have to do to bring home the trophy?

The women are really strong for DU and the men are good. The men's team had waxing problems the other day. The men should be able to finish better than they did in the Classic on Thursday and the women have the ability to take their race.

Re: All things Denver XXVI: From Boonetown to Motown

DU set another WCHA record this year with NINETEEN players on the WCHA all-Academic team with 3.0 GPAs or better. Freshmen aren't eligible for this, either, so it's almost everyone who is eligible is getting the job done.

Congrats to Cody Brookwell, Joe Colborne, Jon Cook, Nate Dewhurst, Matt Glasser, Dustin Jackson, John Lee, Chris Nutini, Kyle Ostrow, Lars Paulgaard, Rhett Rakhshani, Tyler Ruegsegger, John Ryder, Luke Salazar, Brandon Vossberg, Patrick Wiercioch, Brian Gifford, Marc Cheverie and Jesse Martin were named to the All-WCHA Academic Team (3.0 GPA or better) earlier today. The 19 selections breaks last season's WCHA record of 18 also set by Denver.

This is an AMAZING feat - to be #1 in the country and #1 in the classroom. This should make every Pioneer fan proud.
