Now that we know Terry, Henrik Borgstrom, Jarid Lukosevicius, AND Dylan Gambrell (4 of the top 5 scorers)are coming back let's take a look at at the numbers from 2016-17.

xx G A T
TT 22 23 45
HB 22 21 43
DG 13 29 42
JL 16 16 32
73 89 162
Represents 48% of 152 goals scored

More development camps:
Blake Hillman and incoming Ian Mitchell at Blackhawks. Adam Plant at the Wild

Packy Munson's profile removed from last season's team roster and he was not mentioned in Letsgodu season roster preview. Another G recruit has been added for 2018. What's the story here? Did he chose to leave? Was he 'encouraged' to chose to leave? Was he cut outright? Or is he still here and all this is a misunderstanding? I'll withhold further comment until someone can fill us all in...

He announced his intention to transfer, no clue where he'll go, but he'll be able to play immediately.

Thanks for the update. Pretty suspicious timing (hard to believe he decides to leave on his own but waits until mid-July - a week after a mention in the Post as the likely back-up) - tough not to read into it as Gambrell is coming back and we need a ride.

And just a year after convincing him to transfer to DU. Hopefully he is able to petition his year in residence at DU into playing right away. It's certainly been allowed before.

I don't love it. I hope I'm way off base, but...

Hopefully it's just a case of his desire to start games. DU has highly-rated Rasmussen coming in, and another goalie recruit for next season. Maybe he just thinks he's a starter, and the coaching staff agrees, just not at DU.

Devin Cooley, Wenatchee Wild, is the new goalie commit. His numbers aren't terrific so he would probably be the 3rd goalie. Original commitment is for 2018-19.

FWIW Munson would have been competing with Rasmussen to be Jaillet's backup probably not what he wanted to hear. Somehow don't think the Richter Award winner would be in a competition for the starting spot.

Did anyone expect Terry, Borgstrom, Gambrell and Jaillet to return? I guess there could have been a problem with the number of scholies available whether full or part, but I prefer to think the former scenario.

Re: ALL THINGS DENVER--XL--This one's for Old Pio

Here's some quotes from Mike Chambers lunchtime chat:
I expect news on Will Butcher in the coming week(s). I suspect he's going to go UFA next month, instead of signing his ELC with the Avs. Butcher doesn't want to negotiate through the media and I respect that. But I do believe he'll take my calls soon and make his decision public.

On a side note to Butcher, I think the Blackhawks will try to sign him next month, if he goes UFA. He's the type of D Chicago covets.

And, hey, if you want to watch really good, winning hockey, spend your money at Magness Arena. Could be the best DU team I've ever covered next season. Massive talent and depth.

Going back to Butcher for a second, is there nothing the Avs can do to get any sort of value out of the pick?

No, not that I'm aware of. I would suggest tweeting to @capfriendly, my heroes. They do great work and have all the answers. But in terms of making Butcher feel unwelcome, that's on the team. Butcher was thinking UFA all last spring and summer until COL came back at him after Roy's departure.

Honest eval of Butcher at NHL level. I doubt he's NHL ready for at least another year and yes, a FANTASTIC college player. NHL is different. Is he really top four some day? Seems there is a fair amount of risk for whoever signs him.

Re: Butcher, has all the elite skills you can't really teach. And he never turns the puck over coming out of the zone. Reminds me of Paul Stastny in the sense that, when he was at DU they said he didn't have the wheels to play in the show. Different position, obviously, but Butcher's skating might be good enough for the NHL. Everything else he has is rock-solid (albeit he's undersized).

Thanks Ralph. Pads look good as does the view.

Tyler Bozak, Jason Zucker and Paul Stastny are all in the top 250 for NHL Fantasy Hockey.
