Dion is fun to watch. The games were tape delayed.

That move is great, I know he used that to score on RPI in the shootout against them, too.

Glad to get out of there with a couple of points but we should have won last night outright. We seem to have a habit this season of building leads and letting teams creep back in.

By the way, did anybody read about Scott Greenham and "Shoe-Gate" in the DNM today? I cracked up when I read that.

Back to Fairbanks for Miami...a series that I'm doubly looking forward to because it'll be my first in-person game of the season. :D

Wow. That was a quality move dion had in that vid. Hope Reich and Knapp get a good watch of that if we get to a shootout this weekend. Couple of big games for both teams here. Miami wins and they continue with a huge first place lead. Alaska wins and they keep pace with a first round bye and keep creeping up in PWR. I know your boys would love to get a week off and stay in Alaska instead of staying down in the mainland for a month.

Good luck but Miami is tough. I haven't seen any flaws in their game (however Robert Morris must have found something to exploit).

We always seem to play well against Miami, knock on wood. Should be a very interesting weekend, and quite frankly the 'Nooks have a lot more to lose than Miami does right now.

Out of the frying pan and into the fire for the Nooks.

Although we’ve gotten points each series, we left way too many on the table during the first half and have made it tough on ourselves to nab a top four finish. Below is a quick look at where a team has taken points (read across), or where a team has dropped points (read down).

We need to worry about LSSU above us and the five teams right below us. Unfortunately NMU, OSU, and UM all have a couple games in hand on us. This should be a tight finish for that last first round bye spot. I just hope we stay in the scramble.

Remaining schedules:
LSSU: ND, Miami, FSU, UAF, NMU
UAF: Miami, NMU, MSU, OSU, LSSU
UM : FSU, MSU, BG, UNO, NMU, ND
ND: LSSU, UNO, WMU, BG, UM
OSU: MSU, FSU, UNO, UAF, WMU, Miami
UNO: NMU, ND, OSU, UM, Miami
NMU: UNO, UAF, FSU, WMU, UM, LSSU

Go Nooks!

How is everyone's health? Last Saturday the broadcasters said Dallas had the flu. With all the togetherness the guys experienced on that trip, I wonder if it's spread to anyone else . . .

I suggested in the LSSU thread that the team to watch out for is ND. Outside of a series with LSSU, they seem to have the smoothest schedule until the season finale against Michigan.

I'm picking ND 4th, Mich 5th (w/ 2 games in hand) UA 6th and LSSU 7th based on schedule. ND has been beaten up, but once they get healthy on the blueline, look out.

Andy Taranto and Dion Knelsen are both on the long list of Hobey Baker candidates -- public voting has started. It looks like about 70 names are included. Anyone know how this initial group is selected?

Id disagree with that. Miami has plenty to lose, they get swept they lose the top spot most likely and drop out of a #1 seed in the PWR. Miami needs to keep pace with everyone else in the league and country. Neither team can afford a let down at this point in the year. Now Alaska has more to play for because they are battling for a first round bye but both teams have a lot to lose, IMO.

True, but Miami can afford a letdown a lot more than Alaska can this weekend. Not getting a first round bye likely means no Detroit for the 'Nooks this year; based on what's happened so far I have some doubts that we could win a playoff series on the road right now.

But, this should be some great hockey this weekend. Excluding the horrendous stink bomb in Ann Arbor last Friday, we've played some pretty decemt hockey since returning from the break. Miami at home will be a great test.

Yea I see what you mean, but thats in your eyes lol. From this Miami fan we can't afford a let down at all. They have been inconsistant and needs to get more consistant offense before the post season rolls around. If they stumble this weekend it could be trouble with Lake looming as well.

And deservingly so! If Dion Knelsen doesn't make the final cut for top considerations this year, it would suprise the heck out of me.

No team can ever afford a letdown no matter what the circumstances :D

Don't understand where the hell they came up with that preliminary list. Not a single Miami player on the list. They leave off the #1 goalie in the country (Reichard), and put a bunch of keepers on there with nowhere near as good numbers. Camper and Wingles are having similar seasons as Knelson and Taranto also.

If you enjoy college hockey than that was a very good game last night. It was well played, evenly played, and just a good game. Both teams played tough defense and both goal tenders were up to the task when the need arose.

Both tallys were powerplay goals and although neither was a work of art, they both counted. I would give the edge to the Nooks in the first, the Redhawks in the second, and a toss-up in the third depending on which 5 minute stretch you were talking about. I think the Nooks probably had more/better scoring opportunities overall but I’m biased. Except the Redhawks had a great chance to end it overtime but failed to capitalize.

Overall, not a lot a room to move last night, both teams were in each other’s faces...

Not a lot of good scoring opportunities, or even shots in close...

For either team...

Greenham was solid in net for the nooks...

And so was Reichard for the Redhawks...

Taranto always had company...

The Nooks to need to play them even tougher tonight if we hope to take three points.

Go Nooks!
