Adrian Hockey, 2014-2015: The Kids Are All Right.

Re: Adrian Hockey, 2014-2015: The Kids Are All Right.

Adrian 4
SNC 2

This was the prototypical championship game last night. Period. Even had some shattered glass mixed in there as a bonus.

First things first, the penalty shot. It is my opinion that the call made last night was incorrect. Brothers should have been at center ice, but to take the faceoff with a 1-0 score instead of a penalty shot, which he made, anyway. Directly from the rulebook here, bolded for my emphasis:

Rule 55 - Throwing Equipment
55.1 Throwing A Stick - A player, including the goalkeeper, shall not throw a
stick in any zone.
PENALTY—Minor or penalty shot/optional minor. If thrown to prevent an
obvious and imminent goal, the goal shall be awarded.

The puck was going dead-center into the net when Kujava let his stick go. Smevoll and Hatinger blew it (real shocker there), but Brothers bailed them out. We move on...

The glass shattering, right there at the scorer's table, was a first for me. I've seen busted glass behind the net a few times, but to have the end of a stick end up in the hole where the referees talk to the scorers, twist, and an immediate collision shatter the glass was something I haven't seen before. I was in there the night before, working the SNC-LFC women's semifinal. Talk about good timing. A couple minor cuts for one guy, but other than that everyone was okay.

SNC gave us everything we could handle, but simply, we were just better. That's why the scoreboard said what it did. I've given plenty of credit in the past when SNC has had some really great teams (and they deserved every bit of credit thrown their way), but we had the better team this year, and it showed.

Rest up, get everything in order, and we'll go again in two weeks, with higher stakes on the line.

Re: Adrian Hockey, 2014-2015: The Kids Are All Right.

Play like you're capable, boys. There's a large group of seniors that are playing their last game tomorrow evening at Arrington. Don't leave any regrets. You don't get a do-over.

See you tomorrow.

For Laker fans who have not had the pleasure of seeing much of Adrian this year, let us in on things to look for....should be epic tonight.

So is there a pregame show on AC TV? Can't find it on any of the links posted.....any help appreciated.

Re: Adrian Hockey, 2014-2015: The Kids Are All Right.

Hi. You knew I was going to come back in here sometime this week.

Sadly, I cannot be in Minneapolis this weekend. The joys of tax season . But with the exception of about the first half hour of tomorrow's game, I'll be watching.

All that hard work in the off-season. Those pain-in-the-*** conditioning sessions. Those sprints in practice. The power play drills. The breakaway drills. This weekend is why all that is done. Play your game the way you're capable of, and leave it all on the ice.

Hammer
R u kidding me? This is when u grab your best tax customers portfolio and complete their taxes on the road between periods. Sorry to hear about your dilemma.😞

Re: Adrian Hockey, 2014-2015: The Kids Are All Right.

I wish I could, man. I wish I could.

And let's be realistic. If I went to Minneapolis, exactly zero would get done, and even then I think I'd bet the under on that.

back in my day at Oswego ,Oswego was a very good accounting school, the BIG 8 would recruit there,my best friend and roomate became a CPA, and I would not be able to hang with him for 2 or 3 months this time of year..

Re: Adrian Hockey, 2014-2015: The Kids Are All Right.

Trinity 5
Adrian 3

I'm not ****ed off. More like disappointed.

We lost. We got beat. Both of those sentences are true. Plain and simple. Fair and square. We weren't the sharpest, but I'm not so sure that it would have mattered. Trinity shredded our defense multiple times. We would have needed to convert nearly all of our chances to pull this one out. Folks, you know as well as I do that doesn't happen in hockey, so here we sit.

This senior class was the one that replaced the initial senior class. This year we had 10 tremendous seniors that did an incredible job. Thank you to all of you. I'll talk to most of you soon enough. I have no regrets as it relates to this season, except for the big one that every team but one has at the end of the year.

As for Trinity, you guys played a great game and you deserved to win. I've seen both Trinity and UWSP now this year. If Trinity plays like that tomorrow night, they'll beat Point's ***. And that's no slight intended towards UWSP.

Dammit. I thought this was the year.

I have to admit that on our way back from Adrian last Sunday, the four of us felt that Adrian would handle Trinity. I never gave Trinity enough credit this year. After scoring 10 goals against two very good Hockey teams I will eat my words. Trinity has a hot offense, they will no doubt give anyone trouble tomorrow night
