This was the prototypical championship game last night. Period. Even had some shattered glass mixed in there as a bonus.
First things first, the penalty shot. It is my opinion that the call made last night was incorrect. Brothers should have been at center ice, but to take the faceoff with a 1-0 score instead of a penalty shot, which he made, anyway. Directly from the rulebook here, bolded for my emphasis:
The puck was going dead-center into the net when Kujava let his stick go. Smevoll and Hatinger blew it (real shocker there), but Brothers bailed them out. We move on...
The glass shattering, right there at the scorer's table, was a first for me. I've seen busted glass behind the net a few times, but to have the end of a stick end up in the hole where the referees talk to the scorers, twist, and an immediate collision shatter the glass was something I haven't seen before. I was in there the night before, working the SNC-LFC women's semifinal. Talk about good timing. A couple minor cuts for one guy, but other than that everyone was okay.
SNC gave us everything we could handle, but simply, we were just better. That's why the scoreboard said what it did. I've given plenty of credit in the past when SNC has had some really great teams (and they deserved every bit of credit thrown their way), but we had the better team this year, and it showed.
Rest up, get everything in order, and we'll go again in two weeks, with higher stakes on the line.

Rule 55 - Throwing Equipment
55.1 Throwing A Stick - A player, including the goalkeeper, shall not throw a
stick in any zone.
PENALTY—Minor or penalty shot/optional minor. If thrown to prevent an
obvious and imminent goal, the goal shall be awarded.
