Adrian Hockey 2012-2013 - Unfinished business

Re: Adrian Hockey 2012-2013 - Unfinished business

Just back from Arrington.

Where do I start?

Hell. Of. A. Game. Unreal. I don't think we played a poor game at all. Oswego just beat us. The scoreboard didn't lie, and, to be truthful, neither did the shots on goal. I told a couple people after the game, that's the difference between a big senior class and a big sophomore class.

I wonder if Shackell hurt himself midway through overtime, and I'm not the only one who picked up on that. He got up awfully gingerly, and seemed to struggle with his movement after that. That is not to make any excuses, because we have none. Oswego beat us fair and square. Shackell did a hell of a job keeping us in tonight's game.

The officiating was fine. The ice was fine. We didn't play poorly. Oswego was just the better team. Plain and simple. I'm glad our underclassmen got a taste of NCAA tournament play now. Our senior class played in 5 NCAA tournament games in their careers. Shawn, Zach, Kyle, and Andrew, I wish you all the very best. Thank you for your four years here.

One goal short. Dammit.

I may or may not have more later. Depends on what comes to mind. *shrug*

Shackell was unbelievable in the first, as Oswego came out fast. Second period was scary as a Laker fan! I wish I would have made the trip, what a great hockey game!

I think I agree with everything but the reffing. In the third period, I saw both teams make some hits on each other that were iffy. They were the kinds of hits that probably get called 50% of the time. I saw at least a dozen of them, and none got called. I understand it's fun to just let the players play, but for awhile there I thought some of those players were going to kill the others.

Well Bow Wow, I agree, though in the east, it might be closer to 80% of the time. That said, it was a great game!!!

Sorry for the loss. Sounded like a barnburner. Fair analysis as usual.

In situations like that, in a game of that magnitude, I'd rather the referees put the whistle away and let the players decide this, unless something egregious happens, or if things start to slide out of control. Last night neither of those things happened.

Oh, and from what I understand, 2 of the officials were from the east, 2 from the west. And the whistle still didn't get blown.

I agree with you Hammer, as long as it isn't a major, let them play, and the non-calls were mutual, no evidence of favoritism. Great play by both teams.

Re: Adrian Hockey 2012-2013 - Unfinished business

great game by both teams, and shackell kept the dogs in it in the first for sure...as for the refs a few calls missed and a few that were ify but they were good in the end of the game by letting the boys play it out...adrian will be a force next yr for sure, would only hope next yr we could do it again ,not sure with the 14 gone??

Re: Adrian Hockey 2012-2013 - Unfinished business

Great game Adrian! Not the way you wanted it to end, but great play by both teams- a classic hockey game. First period- edge to Oswego, second period- edge to Adrian, pretty even back-and-forth after that. I thought you had it early in overtime- how did that not go in?? If I can say congratulations on a loss- this would be it. What a game.

Re: Adrian Hockey 2012-2013 - Unfinished business

While on vacation to the big town of Brooklyn Michigan, I made several trips to Downtown Yo! Adrian this past weekend (thank god for WalMart). I drove around campus and have to say the Athletic fields were pretty nice and a pretty decent campus. Didn't get into Arrington, but was pretty pleased with the people in the town, even wearing my Plattsburgh State stuff around. Had a chat with a few hockey "fans". The town is really into their Bulldogs. Was nice hearing all the things the college and race track do for the community as well. Kind of surprised they didn't have a big booth at the track for the college tho. Nice college town. Maybe I'll get back for a hockey game some day too....

Good stuff Remy. Would love to see the Cards on our NC schedule home and away.

Saw something in the Alabama thread on the D1 side that claims Fogarty has interviewed for the HC job in Huntsville. Hammer??
