Abortion: Why Not Thoughts and Prayers?

Re: Abortion: Why Not Thoughts and Prayers?

Disney ceo says they likely won’t film in Georgia if law goes into effect.

That one might hurt

That’s an enormously big threat. Outside of California, there might not be a bigger film base. Maybe New York. And Disney is a BSD in the industry.

Like I said, large public corporations are becoming more aggressively progressive on social issues. Hopefully Georgia takes this seriously.

Own yourselves to own the libs.

Re: Abortion: Why Not Thoughts and Prayers?

Yeah, that's close to the same. I'm for abortion being legal, I'm against having to have life insurance on said unborn fetus/child/whatever you want to call it.

Why? Those changing the law should't get their cake and eat it too. If they want to insist it's a person at 6 weeks then it should be insurable.

Pregnant women get the HOV lane.

I was thinking we should start a liberal baby making movement. Here's how it would work. Liberal women start pumping babies out as fast as possible. 7, 8, 9 per woman. Make the Mormons look infertile. Liberal men in turn will kick in half their paychecks to a pooled fund that pays for everything for both those women and their kids: medical, education, day care, after school care, au pairs, nannies. If we pair off and marry all the better but married liberal women still qualify for the fund -- it's truly from each to each. For women who don't want to bear children and for men: adopt, particularly non-white kids. Marry liberal immigrants and adopt their children.

Engulf society with enormous numbers of strongly liberal children and young adults. Blow the doors off the public school system -- dominate the school boards, control local government. Start pushing through everything we can. Above all march every kid down to the DMV on their 18th birthday, register them to vote. Create home schooling, not for iron age myths but for voting, values, rights, progress, caring for others. Right now liberals probably reproduce at about 1.1 per adult. I want 4 minimum. 5 is better. Think Central Africa levels of replacement.

We're smarter, we're more educated, we're healthier, we're wealthier, we think more long-term, we're better at science, we're better at planning in general. We can withstand the impact as long as we all work together. Outbreed, outlive, outvote. Take the insane nutbar white supremacist / fundamentalist idea of creating a baby conveyor-belt and optimize it. Send all our kids to STEM preschool while theirs stagnate in Bible school. Teach them birth control and infant care to plan their families, not to stop pregnancies but to space them and demographically conquer this country. The knucks are too dumb and too unhealthy to keep up. Within 2 generations their 35% will be 9%.

Vancouver is a huge one as well.

100% not-paid by the mother... but you know it won't happen that way. Not in a million years. And guess what? If I were a citizen of that state, I'd be paying for it, like it or not. And I wouldn't like it.

Then don't say a fetus is a child. Problem solved.

You realize I'm against these anti-abortion laws, right?

And yet go out of your way to defend red states from having to face unintended consequences of going through with these laws.

If a state wants to say a fetus is a child at 6 weeks, then they should be insurable, be dependents for tax purposes, and otherwise be given all rights as a 6-week-old infant.

And again, if the people who are against it have to pay for it, that's bullsh* (just like the laws) and even worse if the MOTHER has to pay for her insurance, for a baby she doesn't want, that's even worse.

Bulls**t. If the state is mandating it's a child at 6 weeks and outlaws abortion then they should have to allow the baby to be insured.

I'm not asking the state nor taxpayers to pay for that anymore than they do for any other personal life insurance policies people take out for their spouses and dependents. How is this so hard for you?

Re: Abortion: Why Not Thoughts and Prayers?

Rube - you are not in this conversation.

To help you catch up:

1. This conversation is about life insurance (not health insurance)
2. Nobody (beside you) is talking about making life insurance on the fetus mandatory.
3. Everyone is saying that people should be able to voluntarily purchase life insurance on a 6-week-old fetus, if that's truly the new standard where life begins

Hope that helps.

Re: Abortion: Why Not Thoughts and Prayers?

We need to be consistent. If it’s declared a life at six weeks as a clump of cells, it deserves all rights other humans have. Full stop. Period.

I hate cops ;). Police services should be privatized and available on the competitive free market, for each subdivision to decide who will handle their law enforcement. It's BS socialism that I have to pay their salaries and don't get a say in who they employ!

And while we're at it, condo HOA fees are also socialism. I shouldn't have to pay for trash pickup and lawn services if I don't want them, and I should be able to pick who does it if I do!

Re: Abortion: Why Not Thoughts and Prayers?

From the NY Times:

A judge is expected to decide on a dispute on Friday between Missouri’s last abortion clinic and the state’s health department. If the judge rules against the clinic, Missouri would become the first state without any abortion services in nearly 50 years.

You go Missouri. And, yeah, this is Missouri. Not Mississippi, or Alabama. Missouri. They had a Democratic Senator not long ago.

Missouri's pretty bad, though. It's basically St. Louis in the middle of a slave state. Upper Arkansas.

Didn’t Claire win only after Todd what’s his name said women’s bodies shut down pregnancies if they were truly raped?

I don't know if Akin was leading before that remark but she only got 54% overall. There was also a significant Libertarian in that election to split the opposition.

But consider this: even with that statement Akin nearly got 40%. MO is not what you would call a smart place.

It’s as lost as Alabama. Jones only won because he faced a child predator
