I'm taking 5 family members fishing in Canada this year on a week long stay, our first trip to Canada. Any tips on the travel end of things?

Is this a fly in place or something that is connected to the rest of the world? Is fishing the main reason for this trip or something that will only be a few hours per day?

It's a drive in with our own boat to a lake near Dryden and we fish sunrise to sunset.

Mrs. EoDS gets to head to Boston for a few days in May for a conference. I'm trying to think of good suggestions for her while she's there. I'm sure she'll be interested in the usual out-of-towner stuff (Beacon Hill, Faneuil Hall, Boston Common, Italian food in North End, good seafood, seeing the Harvard and MIT campuses etc.), but I'd be interested in trying to find good recommendations. She's also into fitness (a good running trail near downtown, perhaps), yoga and natural food restaurants. Any ideas?

There is a great running route along the esplanade and along Memorial Drive (as long as she runs during the day). Nice views of Cambridge or Boston depending on which side of the Charles River she's on. She could also look up the Emerald Necklace, depending on how far she wants to run. For walking, and touristy, she could do the Freedom Trail. I love the aquarium and the Science Museum (both easily accessible by T). The MIT museum is pretty cool, if she's going to be on that campus. I'd also recommend the Mapparium, if she's going to be near Northeastern.

She could also head out to the Arboretum for a great view of the city and some terrain changes for running.

Seconded. It's really pretty to run along the river there.

Anyone ever go to a beach/tropical wedding? I'm thinking (way) ahead to one I'm going to in Jamaica in December and trying to figure out what I'm supposed to wear (figuring it'll be too warm for the dark-colored suits I own).

swimming trunks and a wife beater should suffice

A suit would be way too much for a beach wedding, I would think.

Granted, the last two weddings I went to, I didn't wear a tie, and that's actually something I don't really do anymore.

have been to one tropical beachfront wedding, your experience may not be the same. it was hot. the mister wore shorts and a short sleeve shirt (Tommy Bahama type), sandals. the best dressed guy was in dockers and a golf shirt and deck shoes. half us ended up swimming part way through the reception. so we were salty, wet hair, happy, drunken people. it was a good wedding. :)

Sandals, shorts, and light button-up shirt that was only half buttoned-up. That's what I wore to one, and I was in the wedding party. Fit right in.

Oh yeah, sunglasses.

Sounds like a good time! I guess maybe we'll have to get some guidance from the bride, who's a close friend of my fiancee; I was considering investing in a linen suit if I'm supposed to wear something on the more formal side.

Going again this August, same schooner, with my 3 adult kids and 1 son-in-law. 4 day cruise around Penabscot Bay.

One of the things I've been thinking about is a place to celebrate after I finish the marathon on the 7th. Ideally, it would be close to the finish line.

Also, I've done some more thinking, and I would definitely like to go on a "food tour." I do want my first Jucy Lucy experience at Matt's, Gasthof's sounds like a good place, as do the mills, and I'd like to visit Peace Coffee as well. Are there any good markets, bakeries, or coffee shops I should visit?
