Re: A New Coach for UMass...
of course it is
Is it all about the Benjamin$$$$?

I believe Dennehy earns far more than Gendron. Gendron's salary is around $210K.
I thought I read that Gendron was $195K. Someone who used to work for Merrimack once told me that Dennehy was making $240K. The comment on highest paid losing coach though is kind of misleading. Fairfield sucked and folded and he was there for one year and then he was left with Serino's slop the first few years at the Mack
Wow, talk about cherry picking data... 2006 - 2009? That giant has been sleeping for a while.
From 2014 - 2016 UMass has averaged around 3100 fans per season. To put that in context they have ranked 9th, 10th, and 8th in league attendance in that time period.
Regardless, attendance is not really a good indicator of on ice success. Especially when half of the league can't even average over 5000 since they don't have arenas that seat that many...
Of course I'm cherry-picking data, that's the point. If you're making an argument you don't provide every piece of information, you provide the pieces that support it.
This program is a sleeping giant
This program is a giant sack of crap a lot more than a sleeping giant.
Also, that Matt Vautour article was pretty much pure delusion in each sentence. WOW!
As I said when Uconn joined the league, they are the next UMass.
You and the esteemed Chuck Murray have been dismissive of UConn, but they do have a couple of nice young "building blocks" in Thompson and Letunov (if they stay). Again, no pretense of a slot in the "BIG 4" of Hockey East, but I could see them ascending to mid-pack pretty quickly. UMass has been an abject disaster for a while now.As I said when UConn joined the league, they are the next UMass.

Wow... some old posters have been coming out of the woodwork lately this past month or two. Nice to see you again Kieron.
I see that UMass education is coming in handy.
Cherry-picking was the wrong term and I should have corrected you. It implies I left out data that would prove my hypothesis wrong, which I did not. I simply chose not to include data from other years because I didn't think they were relevant as they were not during a period of sustained success.
UMass led me to another great degree at Northwestern, so yes, it has. Thanks for noticing.
I'm sure northwestern is very proud of you too. You want a cookie?
maybe UMass can play some of their games at the Foxboro Sports Center to be more like the football team. i think that would really help sell the program and lead to growth!
