5 dollar gas...are we ready?

Re: 5 dollar gas...are we ready?

Just saw on TV $3.09 @ a BP in downtown Chicago.

Depends where it's at. Generally, most of the City of Chicago is $0.40 to $0.50 higher than the Chicagoland region. Leave the City limits and it easily drops $0.20 to $0.30.

There is a Mobil station on the corner of Halsted St. and Division St. (just up the street from my field office) that is currently $3.49. They're usually $0.80 to $1.00 higher than the suburbs.

But $2.99/$3.09 has been where it has hovered for the last two months.

Does Speedway operate out there? They're infamous for spiking prices 30 cents at a time and everyone else follows them.

No idea, only that there was a humongous McDonalds across the street.
I was following on the internet the Funeral Mass and Procession of Cardinal George.

$3.60 here...but you do feel that nice ocean breeze while filling up, so we got that going for us....

Re: 5 dollar gas...are we ready?

I should clarify something. ZIP Code/city matters. I live in what is considered a more "upscale" suburb. The gas station that is 2 blocks from me is consistently a nickel or so more expensive than where the gas station by my employer is at; that place is located in a lesser suburb, but not ghetto-ish or anything. What puzzles me, is that the station is just off a major interstate, so you'd think it'd be a wash. Guess not.

I buy almost all my gas in Pontiac (where the Mexican lawn service & construction guys with questionable paperwork live). Cheapest gas around, by far. Just be smart and don't stop to buy after dark. ;)

Paid $2.29 a couple days ago. I predict it'll be below $2 within a week or two after Labor Day.
