3/26 - Unending Knight or Straight to the Point?

Re: 3/26 - Unending Knight or Straight to the Point?

Congrats to UWSP. Absolutely the best team tonight and the last few weeks of the season. Well done.

And thanks to all of the SNC players and coaches. To think we are in this position as often as we are is a true credit to them. I still try not to take this success for granted.

Re: 3/26 - Unending Knight or Straight to the Point?

Congratulations UWSP. You've been building towards this and were the better team tonight and much of the second half of the season.

Re: 3/26 - Unending Knight or Straight to the Point?

Congrats to USWP, clearly the best team in the past few weeks. I can't say enough good things about Lake Placid hosting. I've had alot of good times this weekend which only add to the excitement of being here. The highlight of the weekend (sorry Russell) was meeting and chatting with Buzz Schneider yesterday, truly an honor.

Re: 3/26 - Unending Knight or Straight to the Point?

From my perspective all weekend, I will add these thoughts. Once UWSP gained the lead in both games, they took away space, clogged the lanes, limited scoring chances, and buried their scoring opportunities. Did anyone else noticed how well their D closed their gaps on odd man rushes? This was a very well coached team and played their system perfectly on both nights.
As far as SNC goes, they pretty much dominated the 2nd period tonight and had nothing to show for their efforts. SNC displayed a lot of class at the end and I didn't witness any undisciplined play which led to penalties. Hats off to UWSP, you guys earned it and played the most frustrating style of hockey I've ever witnessed.

Re: 3/26 - Unending Knight or Straight to the Point?

Wasn't too imressed with attendance of 653 for the finals? Would of made the trip if NU, Plattsburgh, or Middlebury were playing.

Re: 3/26 - Unending Knight or Straight to the Point?

Very unfortunate he got hurt but that was a clean hit. If you want to point out a missed penalty make it the extremely obvious interference on Point right after the SNC trip but a second before the Pointer wound up for that 3rd goal. Championship level officials simply can't miss something that obvious when staring right at it. I'm sure he feels terrible though. He has to know he missed it and there is no worse feeling in the world as an official when you know it and then something so impactful happens right after. Look for a shaky call against Point early in the 3rd.

Edit - Talking about the play the guy got hurt being clean. The trip was as obvious as the interference. Regretfully only one got called. Some make up work to do for stripes.

Any similar analysis on St. Norberts winning in semifinals because they didn't call the goalie interference or is your whining exclusively selective?

Re: 3/26 - Unending Knight or Straight to the Point?

Had a great time watching a couple of great games in Lake Placid this weekend, even though my Redbirds weren't in it. I agree that UWSP clogged up lanes, especially in the championship game, and didn't allow St. Norbert to get anything good offensively. I thought I was the only one in the building that saw Hill get interfered with right before the third UWSP goal, but it hardly mattered.

The semifinal game between St. Norbert and UMB was an incredible game. I really thought UMB was going to pull out the victory. Black looked like a deer in headlights for nearly all of the game, and Andrews looked solid and ready when he came in for the Beacons. But, St. Norbert did a great job of blocking shots and not allowing UMB to create offensive chances in the OT periods.

As for the attendance number for the Geneseo/UWSP game, was it really 653? It looked like Genny had 700 people by themselves. Easily the most represented out of the four schools.

Yeah Dogs! Great run this year, finished it off against a old foe to boot!

Yeah, I know it's been about a half decade since I posted here, but my kids play hockey now so if you ever had that experience you know how it is. But I do get to 4-5 games a year still and I do still follow....

Anyone worried about that needs to step out of 1999. Gotta remember that when you know and respect whoever it is that wins, you also know and respect someone who just had their season ended. Was the case last night and will be again tonight. Getting emotionally invested in outcomes went the way of the dodo long, long ago.

Homer.

Trivia: Whomever wins this will have 5 NCAA D-III championships. That would be #2 behind Middlebury's 8.

Congradulations to them...

Always have been in our own clandestine sort of way... we're still everywhere.

Man, Point was clearly the best team in Lake Placid over the weekend and, even in victory, your butthurt-ness towards SNC knows no bounds. I'm actually a little embarrassed for you...

Re: 3/26 - Unending Knight or Straight to the Point?

Big Congrats to Point, they were clearly the better team on Sat night...
Had a great time with my travel partners: Jerry, Bill, Mr. Popcorn and Tom J.
More stories were added to our FF story vault...and some great ones too!!
Already looking forward to getting to Utica next year...

Enjoyed Lake Placid. Great town! Great tradition! Thankful for Coach Coghlin and the SNC faithful. Congrats to Stevens Point. Well deserved championship. On to the next chapter!

They should have had one of the Maras give the trophy to SNC.

That was Genny - UWSP semifinal. All the other games were 2K+

I said it before. This is NOT TRUE.

In fact there were more people at the first semifinal game than the second.

Not only that, but the announced attendance is the same for both games. After all, there is only one ticket for the night, thus it is impossible to differentiate the attendance between both games.

Someone messed up entering the information on the first semifinal game.
