2nd Term Part VIII - The Thin Red Line

Re: 2nd Term Part VIII - The Thin Red Line

Interesting that it appears that the conservative media seems to almost avoid the topic of Russia in Ukraine. I just took a quick look and you can barely find the topic on Fox, Breitbart or Drudge (which has a massive headline story on Joan Rivers). At this point, its the first story on CNN and second on Huffpo.

Does this give some sort of window into the conservative mindset on the matter?

Collectively of conservative politicians, this probably reflects the exact same thing Obama is taking heat for on ISIS: "We don't have a strategy." You could interview 100 of them and get 100 answers as to the right thing to do.

But if the guy in the big chair is out of ideas, that is worse than if the minions are running around like chickens sans head.

Just because he isn't sharing his ideas with you doesn't mean he doesn't have any.

Danny, if by standing up and lying, I misdirected Iraqi intelligence for even half a beat, then it was absolutely worth it. That's a no-brainer. And if I didn't, it was certainly worth trying. There were only 50 people in the world who can't understand why I lied this morning, and they all work in the White House pressroom. I'm sleeping fine tonight.

Also, I'd like to see everyone sharing in ideation...with selection of the best idea and joint effective execution. In the end, we're supposed to be a team.

For that matter, I doubt The Big Guy, even (especially) if he's smart, ever actually comes up with any ideas. Dubya, bless his cretinous little heart, was right when he said the president is "the Decider."

The ideas come from people who have spent their lives studying a field. I don't want an executive coming up with "ideas" about something complicated, since by definition his ideas will be puerile and superficial.

Rick Perry evidently didn't know that if you send troops to the border they have to eat.

http://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/perrys-border-policy-causes-problems-guard-troops

Last month, Perry announced he was sending 1,000 National Guard troops to defend the border in the wake of inaction from the federal government. The move was met with skepticism, especially from border town sheriffs who wanted the resources to go towards police officers, since National Guard troops aren’t allowed to arrest or detain undocumented immigrants. Others balked at the price – it will cost an estimated $12 million a month to sustain the troops, and as of last month the state wasn’t sure how it would pay that price.

Now it seems that the troops arrived before the funds did. Democratic state Rep. Rene Olivera, who earlier condemned the “militarization” of the border, said “it’s embarrassing that our troops have to stand in a food pantry line. This is the fault of the state.”

Huh.

Throwing out another GOP guv would be nice, even if they need a former GOP candidate to do it. Alaska politics has got to have been interesting to follow the last decade or so. They're starting to get a kind of Louisiana vibe about them. ;)

Don't forget about Lisa Murkowski getting primaried in 2010 by Joe Miller, then running as a write-in in the general and winning after the entire state simultaneously realized that Miller was missing the pickles on his burger. First time that has happened since the 1950's.

Wait till November. It's going to be a gong show. Pebble mine and marijuana legalization and minimum wage hikes, oh my!

And today's special Alaska Derp:
Responding to the new ticket, the Parnell campaign and the state Republican Party all tried to tie Walker and Mallott to President Barack Obama.
Parnell’s campaign spokesman, Luke Miller, said, “Congratulations to Bill Walker and Byron Mallott for confirming what Alaskans already knew: they are two peas in a Democrat pod. Bill Walker is really a Democrat, and he and Byron can now advocate freely for Obama’s policies in Alaska. Whether expanding Obamacare, raising taxes or growing government, Bill and Byron have confirmed they are part of Alaska’s Team Obama.”

I suggest keeping an eye up here, this election up here should be mighty entertaining to outsiders. Like Twitch said, wait until the marijuana stuff comes up.
