Plenty of old money NE Democrats have the same problem, they just prefer to keep it behind or under the desk, with the office door locked. The Echo Chamber has a simple flowchart for Obama. If he engages the situation negatively then they say he's dictatorial (dog whistle: "they're scary"), if he engages it positively they say he's grandstanding (dog whistle: "they're uppity"), and if he leaves it alone they say he's disengaged (dog whistle: "they're lazy")

I know that. I'm just saying, there's been a complete overreaction on the part of so many with regards to so many things that were of no consequence back in the day.

I think this is a matter of regional difference. Where I grew up, the sole purpose of any kid bringing any sort of knife to school was as a weapon. Where I live now, I'll bet 2/3rds of the kids know how to skin a deer.

Also, it's not PC-ness that's driving these school districts to have a zero tolerance policy, it's liability.

I wore black almost every day in high school. I also wore a long black London Fog coat. I was introduced at my graduation as The Man in Black (not sure if the Headmaster was paying tribute to Johnny Cash or the Dread Pirate Roberts). Then two morons go and shoot up Columbine High School. Today I'd be sent for counseling.
