The good guys win again, this time in Virginia.

I knew a couple who moved out of state because their fellow citizens decided to formalize their fear and hatred in law. Today is a great vindication, as is the fact that the couple, who probably earn around $500k combined, have been kicking all those lovely tax dollars to MD for the last 6 years.

Of course it is. The minute Justice Kennedy's cited the 14th Amendment in the DOMA case and Justice Scalia in his dissent gave every court the legal boilerplate, it was legally over.

On moral grounds I disagree. But it's legal and short of a Constitutional Amendment it's not changing.

I never have, and never will understand, the "moral grounds" argument. Any "morality" associated with marriage was destroyed long, long ago.

It does seem like whenever civil rights are extended to a group traditionally discriminated against, the reaction is expressed on moral grounds. And yet morality has survived the extension of equal rights to Catholics, women, blacks, and even the Irish.

Morality will be just fine when gay couples are as miserable are straight couples.
