2nd Term Part VII: You May Like Your Doctor But You Can't Keep Her

Great, where's mine then? My costs stayed the same, yet I'm paying more taxes than most conservative whiners out here! :D
I'm sure the check is in the mail, assuming the Postal Service doesn't go belly up before it's delivered. Really, if your costs didn't go up, the way the government views finances, that should be considered a reduction.

Re: 2nd Term Part VII: You May Like Your Doctor But You Can't Keep Her

Great, mine went up by a third.

I know of a bunch of folks/friends that saved on their health insurance...including a friend's family who's annual premium dropped from 6k to 2k while his deductible went down. Not sure if you have a unique situation or just didn't do homework...but I'd say I've seen no evidence to say that healthcare costs for the average American will go up.

Every day I know a little bit more that this country is doomed.

Ive never understood the GOP's obsession with the post office. It's one of the few gov't agencies explicitly mentioned in the constitution, which they claim to believe in. It works. Even if they doubled the price of stamps, I could still send a letter from New York to anchorage for a dollar. Something like 40% of FedEx and ups shipments still use the postal service for last mile delivery. And they charge a helluva lot more.

The only thing wrong with the post office is that a certain faction of congress expects it to pay its own way and then hamstrings every logical method of actually doing so. God forbid we close post offices, cut back to 5-day per week delivery, raise stamp prices, or get rid of the idiotic rule requiring them to pre fund their pension for 70 years in the future - a rule literally no one else has to follow (or however far, it may be 50, can't recall off hand).

If you want the post office to compete, let it compete. But don't act like its a failure when you tie one arm and both legs behind its back.

True. The Postal Service's financial straits are just one small piece of the deteriorating financial picture. My wife worked for the postal service for awhile and she just shakes her head with what's going on there. They're supposed to be independent, yet Congress doesn't let them take the steps necessary to compete (eliminating Saturday delivery, etc.).

Yep. Another talking point that points directly to us being doomed.

But, but.. they don't regurgitate talking points.

Somehow they all come to the same conclusions organically.

I would be thrilled if we could trust conservatives with policy. Afterall, let history judge them. The last major outcomes from conservative control were the financial crisis and the Iraq war. Neither turned out very well:

Iraq's return to the bad days

http://www.cnn.com/2014/01/15/world/meast/iraq-bad-days-holmes/index.html?hpt=hp_c2

Do you honestly expect them to take responsibility for either of them? They wanted to stay in Iraq, remember? Cause as long as we stay there everything is fine, just fine. As for the financial crisis it never existed, it was just a simple market correction for the George W. Bush Ownership Society. Nothing more, nothing less.

We're doomed.

For their transgressions they were tossed, rather unceremoniously, from office. Good for the voters. The new majority made the same mistake - they overreached, this time of domestic issues. They got thumped in 2010, survived 2012, and, right now, are looking at a thumping in 2014.

The motto should be do not overreach.

Who was tossed?

Since the Republicans have yet to nominate anyone for President that reflects their true values I call BS on your entire premise.

As for being tossed. it doesn't matter. In today's world you need 60+ in the Senate, the House, and the Presidency to get anything accomplished. No matter how hard you think the Democrats are going to get tossed they will NOT suffer enough losses to hand the keys over to the GOP, or vice versa. So, it's irrelevant.

The last time we saw bipartisan legislation was under Bush II. The last time we'll ever see bipartisan legislation of any magnitude was Bush II. That's why Bush II's party getting "tossed" as you put it is irrelevant.

We're doomed.

Worse. The Gophers are going to blow it at the regionals.

It's spelled s-c-h-m-u-c-k or s-h-m-u-c-k, schmendrick.
What an amazing observation of a spelling mistake you have made.

In the time it takes to type "we're doomed" the national debt has grown by a few hundred thousand dollars.

Debts don't matter.
