2nd Term Part VII: You May Like Your Doctor But You Can't Keep Her

You need to borrow Bob's cross if he's not using it.

Always willing to engage in serious conversation, eh? What's that old lawyer's axiom? When the law is against you, argue the facts. When the facts are against you, argue the law. When the law and the facts are against you, pound the table. Your delicate little pink fists should be pretty sore by now.

I feel bad for people like Rover. Every time he makes a point, Pio comes on and tries to shut him down with derisive comments like saying he has delicate little pink fists. Saying a man has little pink fists is nasty shat. I know it would make me want to lock myself in the bathroom during dinner, much less engage in conversation.

The funny thing is, Rover is a classic example of the point I was trying to make. He says a lot of outrageous things, mostly for effect, but I for one would be disappointed if due to those outrageous statements posters turned on him to the point where he disappeared from the board. That would be a loss.

True enough. But today's liberals have convinced themselves they are "on a mission from God" to punish anyone who speaks out of turn. There are countless examples, starting I suppose with their efforts to silence Limbaugh. Efforts that have been going on for years. I'm not aware of any conservatives wanting to shut down liberal radio talkers, or MSNBC or Huff Po. Conservatives just ignore them. Or don't listen. Or complain about them. But that's not good enough for today's liberals. "He who speaks out against us. or what we believe in, must be silenced."

Paranoid much?

I'll give $100 to your favorite charity if you can show me one post where I've advocated "shutting down" anyone. Ever. However, in Lefty World, no disagreement with orthodoxy is allowed. And is regarded as an effort to silence. Only leftys do that these days. But this was really just you displaying middle school irony, or something. Wasn't it? My suggestion? Stay in the bathroom.

Try, just for once, to be serious. If only for the novelty. Besides, you can yap to your heart's content through the bathroom door.

During the last MN gubernatorial election, Target Corp gave to a state PAC setup to advocate against raising state tax rates. That PAC supported the Republican candidate because that was one of his platforms. The Republican candidate also happened to support a straight marriage amendment to the MN constitution. So what happens? The Human Rights Campaign (gay lobby) issues a boycott of Target stores. Immediately Target issues a press release apologizing for the donation, stating that this donation was strictly made from the perspective of tax policies issued by the candidates, and the presser made sure to state emphatically that Target is one of the biggest corporate sponsors of the GLBT - which it is. However, it's just sad that they had to come out in defense, in fear even, of a liberal social lobby because the company made a political contribution with only their best financial interests in mind.

Fortunately, the corporate officers weren't made to crawl on their bellies like reptiles (or were they?)

The Chick-fil-A situation is typical. The owner has some views on social matters which are generally out of favor, but consistent with his religious beliefs. And the Gay Gestapo is in a constant state of high dudgeon over it. Despite the fact that there have been no suggestions the company discriminates (in any way) against employees, prospective employees, customers or suppliers. Or anybody, for that matter. Or advocates discrimination against anyone based on sexual orientation. But that's not good enough. The response of the Gay Gestapo: "You vill say vat ve tell you, or else." These are typical leftys, who profess belief in free speech, while doing everything in their power to silence or punish speech with which they disagree. Call it Phil Robertson Syndrome.

So Target uses its massive financial assets to play the political influence game to promote its own self interests and then continues to protect those same financial interests by the way it responds to HRC's efforts to assert its own political influence? Explain how Target is a victim in this food chain?

Shhhhh!!!!

Opie's working this out. Don't worry, he'll have an explanation.

Assuming of course that the "Gay Gestapo" doesn't break down his door first, him being an enemy of the Gay State and all. We're on the way. Wait... er, I mean They're on the way!

Re: 2nd Term Part VII: You May Like Your Doctor But You Can't Keep Her

And Clown, you just pointed out the problem that conservatives have with the general public.

Many of us like some of their fiscal ideas, but we really, REALLY hate their social agenda to the point that when choosing, we choose the path that doesn't promote hate and intolerance.

Call it a flaw if you must. I see it as a virtue.

I find it ironic that they use god and religion in such a hateful way.

They made a donation to a tax policy PAC. The HRC goes after them for being anti-gay for making a donation to that PAC. Explicitly calling Target anti-gay and calling for a boycott. When's the last time you heard of a conservative group calling for a ban against a corporation for a political contribution it made? What are the chances that Target makes many (any) donations in the future? This is an example of a group getting up to shout down another and making an attempt to shame them. I can't remember the last time I saw a situation like this in reverse.

I disliked the man's policy for marriage equality, that doesn't mean I'm going to vilify everyone who supported him as being anti-gay.

Target didn't have to cave. They chose to.

Special interests use leverage in many forms. Conservatives with lots of money buy the results they want. Groups with less wealth use the leverage that they can.

Seriously, there's a term called "primarried" now.

Naive much?

Republicans need to stay away from the anti gay agenda. It's a loser. Society is going the opposite direction and it ain't coming back.
