Re: 2nd Term, Part VI: Burnin' down the House

As a footnote, voters and/or anyone else also have the right to judge flag burners and neo-rebels by their actions and treat them accordingly.

Within the law (and voter's booth) of course.
I am a huge fan of people papering their cars and homes with the Confederate Battle Flag, the Nazi Swastika, Greenpeace or Amnesty International bumper stickers and the like. That's how I'm able to identify the crazies, and give them a wide berth.

It seems the Senate has reached a compromise deal. The 30-50 Tea Party Congressmen will oppose, but most Republicans are expected to support it. A House R reportedly said "It's time to move on." Story is breaking quickly so will have a link and details soon.

The key is whether Boner allows the bill to go to the floor, since only he can move it. If not, the GOP might oust him.

House Republican leaders are scheduled to meet Monday; a full GOP conference meeting is set for Tuesday.

At one time, congressional Republicans said they would not vote for a new spending plan or raise the debt ceiling unless Obama delayed parts of the new health care law — but those demands have faded in recent days.

Obama warmed up for the congressional meeting by visiting Martha's Table, which serves low-income families in Washington.

Wearing a green apron, Obama spoke with furloughed federal workers who have volunteered at the food bank, praising them for "giving back to the community."

As for the shutdown and debt ceiling disputes, Obama denounced what he called Republican "brinkmanship," and put the onus on the GOP to reach agreement.

"There are going to be differences between the parties," Obama said. "There are going to be differences in terms of budget priorities. But we don't need to inflict pain on the American people, or risk the possibility of America's full faith and credit being damaged just because one side is not getting its way."

He added: "This whole shutdown has been completely unnecessary."

Actually, it's all about Birth Control.

http://maddowblog.msnbc.com/_news/2...restrictions-remain-a-top-republican-priority
This defiance was fed by Ryan, who stood up and railed against the Collins proposal, saying the House could not accept either a debt-limit bill or a government-funding measure that would delay the next fight until the new year.

According to two Republicans familiar with the exchange, Ryan argued that the House would need those deadlines as "leverage" for delaying the health-care law's individual mandate and adding a "conscience clause" -- allowing employers and insurers to opt out of birth-control coverage if they find it objectionable on moral or religious grounds -- and mentioned tax and entitlement goals Ryan had focused on in a recent op-ed in the Wall Street Journal.

Conscience clause is code for "Don't give women contraceptives" with their insurance.

Yeah, I get the feeling the rest of the GOP will tell him to take his contraception restrictions and shove them. According to the poll that came out only 37% of Conservatives support what the TP is doing. This is tearing the party to shreds and every one of these Republicans have to run for re-election in less than 13 months.

Listening to MSNBC and all the good news has imploded and nothing is happening tonight.

Can I call you racist now?

I chose "wetbacks" carefully. It really has no direct reference to race. Only to illegal status. But you don't really need any evidence to call me or anyone else who disagrees with libtard orthodoxy a racist, do you? So knock yourself out, Mary.

If you applied that to yourself, you'd be rendered mute. But you've already pretty firmly established that there are two standards. One for you and the rest of the ladies of the chorale. And one for anyone who has the temerity to disagree with you.

Really? You're going with the Don Young (R - AK) defense? In a non-satirical context? I'll give you a hint, it's not going to work any more for you than it did for him.

But let me know the next time you use the same term to refer to a Canadian who overstays his visa. Racist.

The GOP was always going to meet Tuesday. I wouldn't give up on this deal just yet.

An emerging Senate deal would raise the nation's $16.7 trillion debt ceiling until mid-February, according to Senate aides.
There were conflicting claims on how long the extension would last, with one aide saying it would go to Feb. 15 and another saying Feb. 7.
It would immediately reopen the government and fund it until Jan. 15, the aides said.
The deal on the table between Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) would also establish a House-Senate budget committee to come up with a replacement for automatic sequestration cuts. The conference committee would have to report back to Congress by Dec. 13.

Democrats had been pushing for a shorter government-funding deal, so moving the date to Jan. 15 would be a concession on their part. By pursuing an earlier deadline, Democrats had hoped to buy more time to negotiate changes for a longer-term 2014 budget to prevent a scheduled spending cut under the sequester from taking place.
Under the current budget law, spending for 2014 will automatically be reduced by $19 billion to $967 billion 15 days after Congress adjourns, which is expected to be about Jan. 15.
Senate Democrats have pushed for sequestration to end, bringing the yearly discretionary budget to $1.058 trillion while Republicans have pushed to keep the $967 billion total while shifting cuts from defense programs to social programs.
Democrats argue they are making a concession to Republicans because they are locking in current spending levels for two months longer than they initially wanted.

Deflect. Change the subject. I am not familiar with Mr. Young or anything he's ever said. Doesn't matter. I don't look to people from Arkansas for inspiration. But I'm not surprised that the comments of one obscure congressman give you the inspiration to get out of bed every day. One more weapon to use in smearing people who have the bad judgment or breeding to disagree with you.

What gives me inspiration is the insipid arrogance of libtards (like you) who take great offense at "wetbacks". In this instance, its use results in a wholly predictable torrent of self-righteous pieties. Try reading Tom Wolfe's "Radical Chic," you might learn something.

Wetbacks carry Mexican flags in L.A. okay.
Peaceniks carry NVA and Viet Cong flags. okay
Peaceniks/wetbacks burn American flags. okay

One guy carries a Confederate flag. Definitely not okay.

Question: there's a river Canadians entering America illegally swim across? Who knew?

Question: Wouldn't "Canadians who overstayed their visas" mean that they came here legally? Not quite the same as wetbacks, eh?

LOLZ

So you are in fact a racist and you also seem to hate women as you constantly use "ladies" or female names in a derogatory context.

Other than white males who agree with you, who do you like?
