Gee, that's never happened before. A news organization was trying to pump up expectations about a rally or event and it didn't even come close to delivering. That's never happened to anyone on the left at all because they always follow through on their promises and don't over inflate anything. [/sarcasm] :p

A clarification, please. Will this destruction take place before or after the "thousand years of darkness" Chuck Norris warned against if Obama was re-elected?

Given that this is Nobel Prize season, shouldn't the Koch Brothers be offering prizes for Extraordinary Fearmongering? Lots of competition among for Norris from Bachmann, Gohmert, King, and of course, Conspiracy Theory Beck.

Possibly but only in the fantasy world where Cruz and willfully ignorant Tea Partiers sit back and deny reality. The numbers say otherwise.

Americans blamed Republicans over President Barack Obama for the shutdown by a margin of 22 percentage points, with 53 percent saying the GOP deserved more blame, and 31 percent saying Obama did. Approval ratings for the Republican Party and the tea party were at 24 percent and 21 percent respectively -- both record lows as measured by NBC/WSJ.

The horrendous numbers for the GOP are spiking bad, not just because of their ill-planned extortion strategy leading to the shutdown. There is a compounding effect when this plan [what Jindal meant by not being the "stupid party"] follows on the heels of rejection of immigration reform, opposition to universal background checks for gun sales [favored by 95%], continued climate change denial, attempts to slash food stamps while defending at all costs farm subsidies and other corporate welfare, and opposing implementation of the consumer protection agency.

They were actually delayed because of reports that the National Guard were armed blocking the entrance to the beltway. Pictures are available of the troops being bused there.

BTW, where did you hear 5PM? News stories I have seen say it was supposed to start this morning. This story from those terrorist sympathizers over at the Washington Times say 3PM.

WASHINGTON, October 11, 2013 — The so-called “Ride for the Constitution” that was supposed to bring truckers from states neighboring Washington D.C. to circle the beltway slowing three lanes for three days is, as of this writing, yet another protest bust. The “thousands of truckers” announced by rally spokespersons Zeena Andrews and Peter Santilli have failed to appear, and observers report few sightings of trucks on the beltway with the signature #T2SDA (Truckers to Shut Down America) stickers and flags.

The Virginia state police dispatch center for Doswell, Virginia, which organizers were using as a staging area for protesting truckers, claim activity is minimal and not of concern.

Another staging area, the truck stop and weigh station in Dumfries, Virginia is also light on protesters with the combined estimate of vehicles at 30 large trucks and about 15 pick-up trucks.

Virginia state police have added some extra units on the beltway for precaution, however the public relations office for the Maryland state police says there are no disruptions and it is business as usual

With black helicopters in the background? I'm sure Breitbart, Drudge or whoever will have some very convincing photographs. Sorry, see the story I posted. If there were a lot of trucks at the rallying points you might have a case, but there aren't so you don't. Good effort though.

And the only reason he's in the White House is that defunct ACORN stole the election.:rolleyes: In GOTP Land, no lie is too big or vile.

I'm now of the opinion that the Republican have become so blinded by admiring their own shiny white morality that they have crossed a line to being devastated in the next rounds of elections and facing a major purge and rebuild. They've been so determined to satisfy the ultra-conservative tea party element that when they do inevitably let those people down by compromising on Obamacare somehow, it's going to cost them a boatload of their core supporters. The really bad news? They've already lost everyone else by now, me included. I just can't imagine voting for anyone that subscribes to the Republican party in it's current national flavor. The more painful this default/Obamacare mess does become, the bigger the blowup of the party will be. So in a way, maybe it's a good thing for everyone if they stay the course for another week or whatever.

I think the party is done. good riddance to a bunch of scum. McCain, Graham, McConell can all go play in the road

The unfortunate part of that is that this country really needs two parties to function properly. I do hope you're right though as I'd rather live with one party than have a day when the social conservative nut jobs are in control.

People have been predicting the end of the Republican party for a while though and it keeps on keepin' on.

Maybe it will split. That might be ideal as it would force compromise as the Republicans would have to decide if they're with the Dems or the Tea-baggers on each issue.
