Re: 2nd Term, Part VI: Burnin' down the House

.

Northeastern Illinois University said a plaque referring to Abraham Lincoln as a "Democrat" is a reference to his advocacy of democracy.
The plaque in the school's Frank Lloyd Wright Building, which reads, "This building is dedicated to public service honoring the memory of Abraham Lincoln -- Democrat," led to some criticism from commentators who pointed out Lincoln was the first Republican president of the United States, The Huffington Post reported Tuesday.

However, the university said the plaque, which has been in place for more than a century, is not an error.

"The Carruthers Center for Inner City Studies at Northeastern Illinois University is housed in a building that bears historical significance," the school said in a statement. "From time to time, the integrity of a plaque honoring the memory of Abraham Lincoln is questioned. Installed in the building for its opening in 1905, the plaque includes an inscription of the word 'democrat' following Abraham Lincoln's name. According to building archives, the word democrat was used because Lincoln was an advocate for democracy -- the political or social equality of all people. The word was not chosen to reflect a political affiliation."

Re: 2nd Term, Part VI: Burnin' down the House

How is that, OP? Did you not see the link at the bottom of my post?

I'm referring to your childish ignorant insistence on not looking up who Ira Magaziner is. You've got all sorts of snarky excuses for not doing so but it boils down to "I'm ignorant and proud of it." As to your link on this post, I suppose we should all rejoice when you climb down off the cross long enough to provide attribution. That doesn't absolve you of multiple past sins of failing to do so. In the most recent episode when I pointed out your failure to attribute, you offered a typical, snarky, libtard response initially, then went back to the post and added the attribution, which should be automatic and not optional or a CYA exercise.

Did someone **** in your Cheerios this morning? The post I originally submitted was attributed, but thanks to a cut and paste error, the first two words of the first paragraph were not included. Again, I have attributed every post except one - which I did to **** you off (and later posted an attribution anyway) but I expect you'll forever try to make the claim that I never attribute my posts. Go ahead. Most people here know the truth and it just makes you look juvenile.

He confesses. Let's see if we understand. You intentionally left off an attribution ("to p*ss me off") then argued extensively that you hadn't left off the attribution (besides, "what difference does it make?") then, snuck back and added the attribution. Is that what you're claiming Bunky? Curiously, you didn't mention that at the time. If true, you're admitting to functioning on a level that would embarrass just about any middle school hot shot. Now, about Ira Magaziner, Mr. "I'm ignorant and proud of it."

I will point out your failure to attribute when I catch you doing it. You don't do it "every" time. Neither have you done it only once.

No, actually I quoted again from the same article and put the attribution there. That way you can bookmark the original post and then every time I post something respond with the link and whine that I don't attribute..which for some reason really, really matters to you. Your repetitive crying about this is about as lame as that moron who keeps saying you're posting anti-Semitic garbage.

Jeebus peezuz OP is an emotional Nancy. There aint an industrial vacuum anywhere in the country that could suck the amount of sand that's been stored up all these years.

At last. You don't especially see it as essential to adult conversation to provide attribution. Particularly if I point it out to you. Now, how about Ira Magaziner?

The person you're referring to doesn't claim I'm posting anti-Semitic garbage, he claims I'm an anti-Semite. A habit of which he has been broken.

Given that you're the acknowledged expert on "sucking" around here, you must be right.

Re: 2nd Term, Part VI: Burnin' down the House

YANKEEDOM. Founded on the shores of Massachusetts Bay by radical Calvinists as a new Zion, Yankeedom has, since the outset, put great emphasis on perfecting earthly civilization through social engineering, denial of self for the common good, and assimilation of outsiders. It has prized education, intellectual achievement, communal empowerment, and broad citizen participation in politics and government, the latter seen as the public’s shield against the machinations of grasping aristocrats and other would-be tyrants. Since the early Puritans, it has been more comfortable with government regulation and public-sector social projects than many of the other nations, who regard the Yankee utopian streak with trepidation.

Accurate? Guess you can sort of count me out of Yankeedom then. Not sure a majority of Michiganders (especially the western part of the Lower Peninsula + the 300,000-ish Yoopers) and WisconSINites would wholeheartedly agree with the bolded either. :p

I mean, goodness, I shudder at the term "social engineering". In the IT world, it's a problem that is fought on a daily basis. ;)

The new Quinnipiac poll is interesting looks like folks are finally figuring out Obama

Re: 2nd Term, Part VI: Burnin' down the House

I took a poll yesterday by Rasmussen that started out asking me about the economy and then veered into odd territory. They asked if I was going to be watching the Bruins-Rangers game after Thanksgiving, would be watching football on Thanksgiving and if I would watch hockey on Thanksgiving instead of football. Could NBC really be thinking about putting a nationally televised game up against the NFL on Thanksgiving?

They ought to as the football games are usually boring contests involving Detroit and Dallas that nobody cares about as neither team has contended for a title in like 20 years. Can anybody picture Tony Romo playing for the Super Bowl?

PS - walrus, I noticed you left Congress' 9% approval rating out of your post. I wonder why that was? ;)

Re: 2nd Term, Part VI: Burnin' down the House

It didn't fit with his narrative.

Got it! I might have to give him the "Unskewed Polls" award this week, awarded to the con who thinks a party with an approval rating 30 points lower than the Prez is going to kick butt in all subsequent elections. Funny how that didn't seem to help in Virginia where they got swept out of all statewide offices...
