Re: 2nd Term, Part VI: Burnin' down the House

Huh.

Nice to know the #2 man in the US House of Representatives is betting against the United States.

Good thing Cantor's the only one with a potential conflict of interest. But if he weren't, you wouldn't be hyperventilating about any libtard who might have potentially questionable investments, now or ever, would you?

Re: 2nd Term, Part VI: Burnin' down the House

It's been more than two weeks since the Senate passed a "clean" funding bill to open the government, with no strings attached. Typically, any House member could call up that bill and request a vote. But on Sept. 30, on the eve of the shutdown, Republicans quietly changed the House rules so only one person can bring that bill up: Cantor.

Moran said the rules change was "unprecedented" and has left Virginians, along with every one else, at the hands of Cantor to end the shutdown, even though he refuses to do so. The Senate-passed bill already has the votes to pass in the House and would be signed into law by the president, if it were allowed to get a vote.

There are no words....

Sure there are. Hyperventilate comes to mind. Since you also apparently lack the intellectual integrity to attribute what you're quoting, I can only assume the "Moran" referred to is that putz Jim Moran. He who on at least one occasion has threatened to beat up a black child.

Another typical Democrat "moderate" on the issue of race:

"a lot of people in [the United States of America]...don't want to be governed by an African-American" and that the Democrats lost seats in the 2010 election for "the same reason the Civil War happened in the United States...the Southern states, particularly the slaveholding states, didn't want to see a president who was opposed to slavery."[50] from Wiki.

Moran's kid is also a thug who pleaded guilty to fracturing his girl friend's skull and got caught red-handed encouraging voter fraud.

Cite?

Are you saying he is immoderate because he did not want to be governed by an Africa-American or that his is immoderate for suggesting that others did not?

Re: 2nd Term, Part VI: Burnin' down the House

Reports are that Boehner will go ahead and put the clean Senate bill up for a vote tomorrow. We'll see. Meanwhile in the Senate the deal is essentially done, they are just trying to work on wording so Cruz and/or Lee can't muck it up tomorrow with a bunch of points of order and other parliamentary tricks.

Think I'll stock up on canned goods just in case.

A bill from the House cannot be filibustered. I would think Prince Harry is waiting for the white flag over the House chamber before doing anything.

Re: 2nd Term, Part VI: Burnin' down the House

And who took over Germany after WWI??? Hence my comment...
The Wiemer Republic and a succession of failed governments until the socialists took over in 1932/33. The Rt. Hon. Winston Churchill, MP warned the House soon after the Armistice that the terms of Versailles were too harsh and would lead to a revenge minded Germany.

Spot on.

They can tie up the legislation with endless "points of order" and other parliamentary tricks.

Foch also said in 1919, "This isn't peace! This is just a truce for 20 years!” He was off by about five weeks.

And, apparently, the House HAS surrendered. It's now open season for big government.

Until January 2015 the GOP as a political force in national politics are dead.

Dems, you won. Gloat and you'll die. Be magnanimous and you'll do well.

Sorry, but I'm gloating. Once again the Teaparty gets used as toilet paper by the Dems. That's why people like Opie are out blowing a gasket (and dabbling with racist overtures). They thought Ted Cruz was going to unlock some sort of Knuckledragger Revolution whereby the country rose up to oppose The O. Boy, did you guys ever blow that one. :D Proof that righties are too stupid to learn their lessons. If people liked Republican politics, we'd be talking about President Romney and Majority Leader McConnell right now. Instead the most "powerful" Republican, the leader of the party, is an Impotent Boner. And you wonder why the party is in the shi tter.

I'm on the road today but you can follow my politics feed (@blackbear93/politics) but be warned you'll see LOTS of liberals on there. What you can do is go to my politics or my longer followfriday list and follow individuals. Follow the AP, WaPo, Politico, The Hill, HuffPost, Slate and Congressional correspondents (the guy I posted last night is from Fox), Luke Russert, Dave Weigel. On a day like this anyone could end up breaking the news. I'll be counting on you guys for most updates until I get home this afternoon.

I'll believe it when it happens. Until then I have faith that the Bone Man will shut down the world economy to save his job.

As it is we're probably already downgraded because of these shenanigans which will end up costing our kids trillions in debt interest payments.

While I can accept that the Tigers will probably lose this series, I'm not sure you understand that JV was their 4th best starter all year. ;)

Nobody in the Senate or House cares about your kids.

True.

When John Boehner reflects on his tenure as Speaker, what can he offer as a defense?

He has one shutdown, two debt-ceiling crises, and no accomplishments. History will not be kind.

I am totally aware :)
I was merely repeating what I heard a bunch of so-called experts say.

I spent $400 on canned goods and bulk foods just in case. Good thing is that even if Congress does do something tonight, the food and canned goods are still edible. :)

Judging by the lack of news here and on my twitter TL, I would guess nothing has happened. Boehner is aware the clock is ticking, right?
