Re: 2nd Term Part 5: Big Brotha

Look at who Bat**** Crazy Cruz is standing next to in the picture. That's all you need to know.

The thing that's scary about Cruz is he's bat**** crazy but also charismatic. Hopefully the first outweighs the second outside of the deep red states.

Where was Opie's righteous outrage when Bill Clinton supposedly had 100 people killed, including his own dog Buddy, was running drugs at rural Arkansas airports, fathered a child with a prostitute, raped half the population of his home state, etc etc. All this stuff, all baseless with the possible exception of having his dog whacked before it flipped on him, was reported in the lamestream media.

PS - Good call on Judith Miller, although Opie probably has the hots for the old broad.

Don't forget having Vince Foster "murdered." As it happens, I had a talk show in those days and dismissed all of those charges as bunk. Selling presidential pardons, stealing from the WH and lying to a grand jury were different matters.

It seems some arguments never go away: Judith Miller was badly informed about Iraqi WMD in the run up to the war. And her articles reflected that misinformation. Similarly, President Bush (along with the intelligence agencies of all of our friends, including Israel) thought Iraq had WMD. Hussein had previously used WMD at least twice. But in the left wing dictionary, "mistaken" and "lying" are synonymous. Right under the entry that "unfounded" and "lying" are also synonymous.

In the case of the "journalists" I mentioned, there is no argument that they deliberately wrote lies. You may not see a difference between being wrong and making sh*t up, but most of the rest of us do.

I hate to see you resort to tu quoque...

Touche. Why don't you take a moment to explain why a "card carrying member of the ACLU" wants to put college guys accused of rape by their girl friends behind bars? Isn't it the ACLU (of which you claim to be a "card carrying member") that always says: "Better a thousand guilty men go free than one innocent man gets sent to prison." How do you reconcile that with your obsession about putting college guys in prison? It's possible some might notice a teensy inconsistency that a "card carrying member" of the ACLU puts on his Torquemada costume when it comes to so called date rape.

"Torquemada – do not implore him for compassion. Torquemada – do not beg him for forgiveness. Torquemada – do not ask him for mercy. Let's face it, you can't Torquemada any'ding..."

Speaking of secret recordings, I know there's a lot of fans of Richard Nixon out here. Looks like the last few tapes of his have been released.

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articl...lybeast/politics+(The+Daily+Beast+-+Politics)

Lets just say he's got a few "interesting" comments in there...

Go ahead and pleasure yourself over those tapes. God knows Nixon's the only president who ever said anything politically incorrect in the oval. But remember this: Nixon's the one who made the NFL abandon its ridiculous 50 mile blackout for all games, regardless of whether they were sold out. So anyone living in an NFL city can watch their team play on the tube every Sunday, (road and home) thanks to the "Tricky One."

50 mile is a bunch of bull. We get blacked out of Bills games here, and we're probably 150 miles away.

I'm not exactly sure what you're going for here. The blackout rule, which Nixon ended, called for a blackout within a 50 mile radius of an NFL city for home games, regardless of whether the stadium was sold out or not. So beyond 50 miles, there was never a blackout. And there was no local blackout for road games. There might have been network scheduling preferences, but no blackout. In Chicago (and I assume other NFL cities) ads for bars and roadhouses beyond the limit (generally in Wisconsin) offering TV and meal deals would show up in the Saturday sports sections for Bears fans who wanted to drive beyond the blackout to see the home games.

After the blackout was lifted, the NFL imposed a "3 day sellout rule," which meant if the game wasn't sold out 72 hours in advance, it would still be blacked out locally. That led certain deep pocketed locals, anxious for positive PR, to snap up the few unsold seats, generally donate them to charity, and allow the rest of the home folk to see the game. These days, that rule is rarely an issue.

Nixon was a big RED SKINS fan, and even though they were always sold out, couldn't see the home games on TV. And for any president to saddle up and head to a sporting event is an inconvenience. Somehow or another, he was able to "persuade" Pete Rozelle that it was in the best interests of the NFL to end the blackout and avoid all of those pesky IRS, Justice Department, FCC, FTC and other questions.

I will grudgingly give you your due Opie. You found one thing in that guy's whole miserable life that he did right! Kudos to you. :D

However, you seem awfully dismissive of the guy's rampant anti-Semitism....

I always thought the blackout rule was somehow tied to broadcast locales of your local station. So let's say you are 90 miles from the stadium, but the local CBS affiliate for your area, broadcasting the game, is also the local affiliate to cities within 50 miles (or whatever the cutoff was). You were hosed.

Re: 2nd Term Part 5: Big Brotha

Secession vote planned!

Unfortunately it is six counties in Colorado, not the Confederacy. :(

I say we let them secede, then refuse to make them a state. They can be on par with Puerto Rico.

Re: 2nd Term Part 5: Big Brotha

We certainly do not have a very mobile society. If you don't like where you live MOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's not that ****ing hard.

Tell your huff-and-puffer friends who screw around with perfectly fine states that don't wish to have your fascist policies.

Today, certain geographic areas are awarded as home or away locales for the teams. If you're in that locale and the game isn't sold out, blackout. However, it's a little weird, since a place like Erie PA is home for Steelers and away for Bills.

Kick them out of the country and admit Puerto Rico in their place. The last thing we need is more crazy white hicks with an even louder voice in government.
