2nd Term Part 5: Big Brotha

Re: 2nd Term Part 5: Big Brotha

I got your point. It just seemed like the conversation could be advanced more quickly if I looked past it. Obviously I was wrong. Like a teenager in a high school debate class, you need every point addressed. Fine. Faux "News" is not a credible source. They went to court for (and won) the right not to be constricted to tell the truth in their reports and their chairman or whatever he calls himself admitted that he views Democrats as "the other side" which doesn't make for very unbiased reporting.

Now, as I said, the report itself is available for reading. No pesky news organizations to sway opinion one way or the other. When you have a chance, you might want to read it.

Serious question...do you think the people at CBS/NBC/ABC view Democrats as the other side, republicans as the other side or are they impartial?

If we're talking actual reporters, I would say they probably lean left personally, but most will try to be impartial (to varying degrees). Most of what they get wrong is due to incompetence rather than malice.

If we're talking producers and higher up decision makers, I think they want whatever will bring in the most eyeballs and, more importantly, advertisers. Unlike FOX, I don't believe they have an explicit political agenda (MSNBC excluded). Look at how long they pushed the horse race in last year's election when in hindsight it really was never that close.

And yet, when I took a look at the original link that you sent me, the last couple of paragraphs make Obama look like a moderate.

Brian Williams is not impartial. Matt Lauer had to become impartial because he got caught playing for the left, and honestly who watches CBS or ABC?

Did you ever think they were pushing the horse race in order to get more left-wingers to the polls, or to try to convince right-wingers to stay home in a measure of confidence?

They do have an explicit political agenda, but the reason they're on network and not on cable is because they're much more subtle about it. You really have to read between the lines.

Wow. The state of South Carolina is too liberal for you? If you can't even fit in in the birthplace of the Confederacy I'm not sure where you'll fit in.

Don't watch much of them. If I need news I have found the internet is far superior to anything on TV. But I think the news divisions in general will do whatever satisfies their <s>corporate partners</s> sponsors and drives ratings. I would also say they do not have a political agenda that drives them the way Faux "News" does. I don't think they choose sides.

They pushed the horse race for so long because they needed to keep people watching to drive ratings. If they had declared the race over two weeks or a month out, people would have stopped paying attention and their ratings would have reflected that.

Based on all the posts I am seeing, Flaggy is really trying hard to get out in front for the next PotY

So then why was Faux pushing the same thing? By your logic wouldnt they be talking the opposite view in hopes of getting the Right to the polls? I mean even DURING the election they were fighting amongst themselves trying to prove somehow Romney was going to win. The video of Rove is still brilliant.

There is a difference between reading between the lines and seeing stuff where it doesnt exist...just ask Russell Nash :p

One thing to understand in the politics of today: Two parties that are different in name only are trying to pull the country down two different paths that lead to the same destination. I'm sure you've seen the political cartoon of the slaughterhouse with the democrat and republican entrances; it couldn't be more true.

She's what?!!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Will she "target" Nick Begich?

Flaggy I appreciate a good dodge as much as the next guy, but its funny how you will hit GOP talking points in one post and then 5 minutes later fall back on the trite "both parties are the same" mantra. You know, when George Wallace first tried that, maybe it had some resonance, but nowadays you just sound like a goober! ;) No matter which side you agree with, there is a BIG difference between the two parties, perhaps the biggest we've seen since FDR wanted to bail out England in the face of the Nazi assault and isolationist Republicans wanted to leave them on their own.

That's because you assume that I believe Fox Snooze is right-wing. They're not. It's the same Murdoch BS as NewsCorp's other outlets, just with a certain spin to it that makes it seem GOP.

Fox Snooze is an entertainment channel, much like CNN. If arch-liberalism sold better, they'd be hiring Little Ralphie Nader as a commentator tomorrow. If you're looking for someone to defend journalism, don't look at me. The whole profession is in the toilet.

Yet, this is probably the first time I've ever read you going after CNN, or MSNBC, or any network that isn't named after a canine.

If you aren't going to hold water for someone, then don't hold water for them. If you stop using the labels of knuckledragger and GOP to accentuate your arguments and actually stick to the topics, we might actually believe that you don't hold water for the left. I don't hold water for the right, either, as you've seen me complain about them as well. Maybe not as much as other things, but if you only have to walk 10 feet in this world to see right-wing bashing, then what's the point of me wasting my time doing that? It'd be like 20 thors taking on a zergling. Heck, you know what? If you stop the water holding, I'll stop using the huff-and-puffer term.
