26th Alaska Governor's Cup - Decade Sweep Edition

I don’t trust a Republican to run Animal Control let alone the Legislature. Not one of them will have the stones to stand up to the oil companies or enact the tax system we desperately need. Even then, there’s not gonna be enough votes to get around any vetoes by the Governor. They squeak out of few bucks here and there but this is definitely the future.

Edgmon elected speaker with a coalition. Let the war begin.

If this is the last season, the least the Seawolves could do is win the Cup.

The only way I can see out of this mess is to close most of the MANY satellite programs across the state.

I thought I read that that doesn't even cover a third of the budget cut. As a reference, they said you could cut all of UAA and UAS and not cover the proposed cut. They could look at UAF...but that would just be silly talk. :)

Hmmm. I had not heard that, but heard just the opposite on the radio today … which is what prompted me to make the statement. Let's face it, everything is getting cut.

I miss my old Sea Wolves fan. We met about 20 years ago. You still there? I bet he is. Actually he was so smart. :)

So we losing a shootout for the Cup which the refs will screw up is how this is going down, is it not?

Tis the Seawolf way. I do not expect anymore heartbreak more than this but don't count them out simply on my behalf.

I will probably make it down to the Sully Saturday night after a solid Friday night win, because tradition.

While I would love for the Nooks to have a shootout win, or even better a sweep, the seawolves are impressive this year. The record doesn’t reflect it but playing you all scares me. Your boys really have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

We are locked into 7th no matter the outcome, and let’s call a spade a spade...this series has been pretty apathetic the last few years, except maybe for the overtime ENG. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if UAA makes things interesting.

I feel like UAA will win on Friday and Saturday but in 3 on 3 OT or the shootout and the decision will be “No, those are ties. You have to do a shootout to decide the Cup.” And UAA will lose that.

Has anybody said what the format is? Are they using the WCHA win/loss record, or the NCAA win/loss/tie record? If Sat goes to a shootout for WCHA purposes, but the series also remains tied, is there a separate shootout for the Cup? Do we dare to hope for back-to-back shootouts? :(

Re: 26th Alaska Governor's Cup - Decade Sweep Edition

On second thought, there is no different WCHA win/loss record. The WCHA stuff is just a “points” gimmick. A tie is a tie is a tie. But even if they use NCAA win/losses, as they should, there still needs to be a tie breaker for the Cup just like there is for tournaments. So there will probably be a final shootout (best of three or five) even if there is a WCHA sudden death shootout for Saturday’s game. Or not.

I haven’t seen it clarified anywhere (and thus why I bring up that scenario).
