2026 WJC

Crowd at Mariucci certainly jumped in number tonight. I don’t think it was simply locals going because of ticket price slashing, there was an awful lot of red. We may have discounted travel problems that delayed people arriving a bit.

Anyone know how the brackets work? Will The US and Canada meet in semifinals assuming they both win first round? Any idea which time slot? Trying to get tickets sorted out. Don't really want to spend close to $300 for a pair if the US aren't playing, but a US-Canada match up is tasty enough Im willing to make the gamble that US beat Finland.

What about the semis? Im assuming it will be US-Can in the late game if they both advance, but would be nice to know for sure
They reseed after the quarterfinals. The teams are seeded 1-8 based on their preliminary round performance...

  1. Sweden (Finished 1st in group, 12 points)
  2. Canada (1st, 11 points)
  3. USA (2nd, 9 points)
  4. Czechia (2nd, 8 points)
  5. Finland (3rd, 7 points)
  6. Switzerland (3rd, 6 points)
  7. Latvia (4th, 4 points)
  8. Slovakia (4th, 3 points)
The highest and lowest teams on this list to win their quarterfinals will play each other in the semifinals, as will the two middle teams.

Order of SFs:

  • If the U.S. makes it to the semifinals, they will play in the first one.
  • If Canada makes it to the semifinals, they will play in the second one unless it's against the U.S.
  • If neither North American team advances to the semifinals, the highest and lowest seeds will play in the first one
