2026 Winter Olympics: Thread Title Under Construction

Ended up in the front row for tonight's game
Somehow I missed the actual layout of the arena amid all the construction news. Is there a reason the seats are so far from the ice? Converting to international width after the Olympics? Better layout for conventions and non-hockey events? I think Beijing had a similar setup, though that didn't really matter with the crowd restrictions in place.
It's a concert venue built by a concert promoter that's hosting hockey for two weeks.

The other venue is s convention center hosting hockey for two weeks.

There certainly have been issues at both rinks for fans. No toilet paper in a big section of toilets after the 2nd yesterday but fixed for today.

Ran out of beer a few days ago. Shitty signage at Santagiulia about where cash is accepted.

Otherwise, the hockey did hockey well

And ironically, despite being temporary, it's probably the best ice of all skating sports, except maybe long track speed skating. 😭

I didn't know until I saw a video from Apollo Anton Ohno showing them trying to flash freeze the ice during short track speed skating because the venue is shared between short track and figure skating. Two sports who couldn't have wilder different ice temperature requirements. The figure skaters have bitched about the ice being too hard, speed skaters that the ice is too soft and slushy.

What a dissapointment.
