2025-26 Penn State Nittany Lions

That's not to say Penn State doesn't have other talented players, but Penn State has never had a player on the roster of her caliber. As good as Janecke is individually, she really does bring out the best in her linemates, and I think that also trickles down to the rest of her teammates. How did Jeff Kampersal get her, rather than someone from the WCHA recruiting her?

Jeff is friends with the coach where Tessa played her HS years. She was a bit of a late bloomer and didn't have the attention of the other WCHA schools
 
It's not just her - Christian, Roberts, Vaslet, Butze, Desa and Lum. You couple that with the fact that PSU will not have any seniors in 2026 since Retrum transferred and Hengelmuller retired and I'm sure Mercyhurst and RIT are counting down to getting past this year.

That's going to be a hard group to replace...ouch.
 
Six new players and two new goalies have jerseys. Good thing Captain Janecke is in the house to set the tone for all the new players.

So no previously unannounced transfers - that's at least a little surprising. I was hoping Kampersal could find an upperclass defender, since he'll be working with three freshmen, two sophomores, and two seniors this season. The forward group looks solid, though.
 
It's a big class for sure. Janecke and Harvey from Wisconsin are going to be vying for the #1 overall pick in the PWHL next year. I'm going with the Tkachuk Janecke comp. The attendance records should be shattered this year with the upcoming farewell tour. The PSU brass should get on this train and start marketing the heck out of this. I noticed Barbour resurfaced at Utah State. The new AD has been better at getting the band to women's hockey home games.

They could have up to 3 team members at the Olympics -- Janecke, Hall (participating in the Swedish Olympic team camps), and incoming freshman Fantin (she played with Team Italy at the world championships this spring and is participating in the Olympic team camps.) **And** they're hosting the frozen four in 2026. I really hope they're marketing the heck out of this.
