2025-26 Penn State Nittany Lions

When the weather is still nice, any type of turnout is spectacular. Hopefully, the staff have the recruits coming in for the whiteout game that's being nationally advertised non-stop for the football team.

Zed great job on all the updates.

No score at Penn State after one. Shots on goal are 17-3 for Penn State, and they took the only penalty. So far, it's a repeat of last night, just relentless pressure from Penn State. I know it's only been four periods of hockey this season, but I'm really liking freshman Matilde Fantin on that top line with Tessa Janecke and Katelyn Roberts. She doesn't play like someone new to D-1 hockey, and she gets a full season to learn from Janecke and Roberts.

After two, Penn State is up 2-0 on first-career goals from Matilde Fantin and Taya McDonald. Shots on goal are 34-13, and each team took a penalty in that period. It's getting a little chippy, but this one is all Penn State again.

#8 Penn State sweeps #9 St. Lawrence by a score of 5-2 on third period goals from Tessa Janecke, Grace Outwater, and Nicole Hall. Shots on goal totals were 53-23 for Penn State, and penalty totals were 4 for Penn State and 2 for St. Lawrence.

Penn State played a game of constant pressure, and just never let off the gas. They look like the same team as last year, and that's with a lot of new players on the roster, so this was a great start to the season (says Captain Obvious).

It looked like another shutout in the works and then bamm, SLU gets a pp goal and then another one real quick. Desa refocused and closed it out. Is Hall going to be the Christian of this year? Trim the penalties back and PSU will be okay. Butze the shotblocker now is a surprise and a real good progression for her on being a complete d.

That first St. Lawrence goal I think was scored by Tessa Janecke - the initial shot was saved, and the short rebound came out, and it looked like Janecke was trying to just tap it back to DeSa to cover it up, but oops...DeSa wasn't expecting that.

There is a very funny somewhat planned impromptu video with the players highlighting the white out game. That's the type of stuff besides a 25 win season that resonates with the recruits. I also read that Penn State is now an Adidas school. Big money for Penn State to switch allegiances from Nike. And don't forget a Winter Classic type game for the men and women at Beaver Stadium.

After one at Vermont, Penn State is up 2-0 on goals from Grace Outwater and Maddy Christian. Shots on goal are just 8-2 for Penn State, and Vermont took the only penalty. It wasn't the usual 100 MPH from Penn State, but they're definitely in charge of the game thus far.

After two, Penn State is up 3-1 on a goal from Tessa Janecke. Shots on goal are still low, only 15-4, so Vermont is at least keeping Penn State from their usual barrage of shots.

15 shots through two is definitely not enough, yet limiting Vermont to only 4 shots is stellar. Outwater is going to be a handful this year for other teams.

And this one ends at 3-1 for Penn State. Shots on goal were 23-10 for Penn State, and each team took two penalties. Kind of a weird game - Penn State controlled it, but they didn't look as relentlessly "swarmy" as they did against St. Lawrence. The other obvious thing is their low shots on goal total...very uncharacteristic, but Vermont did well keeping them to the outside for a lot of the game. I don't think they went at 100% tonight...I think they did enough to keep Vermont out of the game and that was enough.

Outwater is going to be a handful this year for other teams.
Grace Outwater has a great shot, but what surprises me is her aggressiveness...and I mean extracurricular aggressiveness. If you look at her pic on the roster, she looks like someone who would apologize for bumping you too hard, but then watch her in a scrum in front of either net - she's a fun one, and she's not apologizing!
