2024 SUNYAC additions ,subtractions and Tomfoolery......

The polls don’t mean anything, but if they did I don’t think either team is particularly strong. Neither of them belong in the top 15.

Honestly fair. That and yeah neither team should be ranked at this point, not sure how Plattsburgh held on (win over Simon Fraser was enough somehow?). Wouldn't be surprised if Plymouth stays unranked until January but we'll see how they hold up.

Just curious why Oswego would get any votes in the poll at 0-2-1.....thats why I dont like polls, even in when it comes to politics, they are off....win and your in...

The year SNC started 2-7, they were still hanging on in the poll at like 1-5.

But actually now that I see who Oswego has played, this might be the only time an 0-2-1 team could legitimately deserve to be receiving votes.

that did cross my mind, but who knows??? Just dont like polls....win and your in, don't leave it up to a poll

But a poll has nothing to do with whether you get in, so what are you complaining about?

not complaining at all just dont see y Oz gets votes when they are 0-2-1....and I am an Oz fan as you well knows other teams shouldn't get votes as well when they are in the same situation, thats why the polls make little sense...Go Lakers!!!

A poll is a collection of opinions, doesn't have to be based on the math- which is what a computer could do (Pairwise, RPI, etc.). An opinion can take into consideration the less tangibles, like how well a team played against a stronger team, despite the actual outcome.

Charles Barkley Buys Drinks After Fredonia Beats Plattsburgh

The Round Mound of Rebound bought everyone a round after a Western New York college hockey team won over the weekend.

WGRZ reports Charles Barkley was spotted in Fredonia, N.Y., on Friday night, celebrating the SUNY Fredonia men’s hockey team after the Blue Devils beat Plattsburgh State, 2-0. Social media videos show the NBA legend appearing in a local bar after the game, offering to pay for everyone’s drinks.

“I went to the Fredonia State game tonight. They won 2 to zip,” Barkley told the cheering crowd. “I’ve never been to Fredonia State before. You guys have been amazing. So for me, we’re going to play some music that I listen to right now, and for the next five songs, for the next five songs, all drinks are free at the bar.”

Barkley was in town to do the ceremonial puck drop at the beginning of the game, part of Fredonia’s alumni weekend that honored the 1993-94 hockey team that reached the NCAA championship. Barkley appeared in photos with fans and even with Fredonia police officers.

“Slam dunk for our night shift! Our officers met NBA legend Charles Barkley tonight, a true gentleman and supporter of law enforcement!” the Village of Fredonia Police Department said.

Barkley, 61, is a Basketball Hall of Famer and 11-time NBA All-Star who was best known for his rebounding skills over 16 seasons, including with the Philadelphia 76ers, Phoenix Suns and Houston Rockets. He won two Olympic gold medals, was named league MVP in 1993, and was honored on the NBA’s 50th and 75th anniversary teams.

Barkley works today as an NBA analyst alongside Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny Smith, and Ernie Johnson on TNT’s “Inside the NBA.” He’s also written several books, starred in TV ads, covered college basketball tournaments, and appeared in movies and TV shows like “Space Jam,” “Modern Family,” “The Goldbergs” and “Saturday Night Live.”

This whole story was wild when I first started hearing about. He was there for the entire weekend, both games. From what I finally gathered, he is actually good friends (don't know how the connection was made) with one of the players from that 1994 team alumni weekend was celebrating. The friend invited Barkley to join him at the festivities, and he agreed.

rumor has tio went to utica with the anonymous source being quote "2nd best to the coach himself". i wonder if cash considerations or the perennial all star himself future considerations was included in this apparent player swap? All i know is that this wasnt done b4 the season started cause someone was being a stickler about getting a 6th round pick out of all this.

Tio was "approached" by a female recruiter who told him she could put him in contact with the Utica coaching staff. Utica lost players at the break; Tio had informed Plattsburgh it was too expensive to attend; Utica had extra financial aid now available. On December 27, he self enrolled in the portal, informed Plattsburgh he was transferring because of financial reasons; Utica offered a better financial aid package. He left without meeting with the Plattsburgh staff. Kids and programs cutting deals mid-season using recruiters sets a bad precedent. Also not a good luck of being able to retain players over financial aid.

Financial aid? Pfft...He took the bag. New reality filtering down to DIII.

Unfortunately, sign of the times! Heenan and his staff were able to get a recruiter to do his dirty work and secured both a forward he lost two years ago when Tio decided Plattsburgh was a much better fit than Utica; and a goalie from the University of Dubuque, Ryan Pios, to replace Ethan Roberts, before they were even in the portal. Some programs can buy players at will; others have to be better sellers of the educational benefits of their universities, hockey programs, and college experience to recruit and retain players.

if only there was league where a lot of top ny prospects play in that is just as good as the canadian junior a leagues. where suny schools can take advantage of that in state suny tuition and has helped former bottom feeders like cortland become sunyac champion. we could call it the NCDC
