Pretty soon we'll just be "the NYAC".
makes sense
Pretty soon we'll just be "the NYAC".
Cortland just won a sunyac title with 15 guys from ny and a majority of their roster from American leagues like the NAHL NCDC and the EHL. Hobart just won back to back national titles with a roster that's mostly NAHL and NCDC guys. Platty and Oswego have 5 ny guys between the 2 rosters. I thinks it's pretty clear that with every passing year the American junior leagues are becoming better than the Canadian ones and that suny tuition becomes a better bargain every year as well. I think the future for all suny schools is to have more NY guys that can take advantage of the cheaper tuition to counter Hobart and Skidmore instead of having mostly Canadian rosters like the past.So everyone in the SUNYAC is now playing for third with the financial aid disparity with Hobart and Skidmore. Sounds like a win.

IMHO in 25-26 SUNYAC will be the strongest conference inD3 hockey.
NAHL is clearly the strongest and NCDC right behind it as far as American leagues go
Do you not consider the USHL an “American” league?
I don’t consider that a league that feeds players to D3. Obviously its the strongest.
But when looking at the main D3 feeders its the NAHL and NCDC
yes and throw in CCHL and OJHL as well for the up north guys that come south
yes but the main point is the new kids on the block are starting to overcome the old guard and maaaaaybe the old guard needs to pivot where they recruit their kids now
Every roster in D3 is becoming more inclusive of different junior leagues and even portal additions. It doesn't matter if your an old guard or new guard, players are going to go to schools that give them the best financial assistance and packages. Parents are consumers too. Plattsburgh has lost a number of players because the Financial Aid Office wouldn't match other schools package, even within the SUNYAC. Their packages are less then Oswego and Geneseo. The bottom line is you have to recruit good players who want to attend your school and can afford to go, especially for international students.

Chatham lands Austen Swankler out of the portal. Could be one of the most decorated D3 players in history.
WOW,kid had 19 goals and 44 pts at BGSU as a soph. and 26 pts his frosh campaign...not to mention a pretty good yr in the OHL....be on the look out...
So why did he only suit up for 10 games last year and why is he on his third school in four years?

IDK, Drafty...
Elite D-3 prospects (yes, that's an oxymoron) don't transfer to Chatham. I have read that his family lives close by, though.
BG played in a weak D-1 conference, but that doesn't mean that he won't shine in D-3. (How many times have we seen an end-of-the-bench D-1 castoff do just that?)
