2024 Elections: One Last Chance for Democracy

Harris needs a miracle. She needs Pennsylvania, Michigan, and then either Wisconsin or Arizona.

Michigan seems plausible with so many votes yet to be reported out of Detroit.

Pennsylvania looks increasingly unlikely. Does not look like there are enough votes outstanding...but hopefully I'm wrong.

Wisconsin looks like a lost cause, but Arizona looks at least possible.

Very disappointing results. Senate looking like it will wind up something in the ballpark of 53-54 R too. Uffda.

Here's to hoping for a big turnaround when I wake up in the morning.

Keep in mind, those aren't deficits. Those are what she would need to do OVER EXISTING returns in an environment she's already running behind 2020 numbers.
 
I feel so helpless right now.

My daughter is queer and I’m scared she’ll be forcibly removed from my wife and I. My only hope is she’ll be 16 in April and maybe she’ll have agency. I doubt it though.

Tariffs enacted? Prices skyrocket and my job is in jeopardy.

I’m scared and the worst part is that there’s nothing I can do.
 
I also love how, with a few notable exceptions (like Nebraska's WTF on abortion), the referendums went the "liberal" way. Abortion rights were generally favored, minimum wage and sick leave laws favored employees, marijuana access passed, cynical measures to make referendums harder or give the legislatures more authority over executive agencies failed, etc. This all at the same time they vote in people who will do the complete opposite when given the chance.

The only right wing ones that passed in most states were the "only citizens may vote" laws pushed by ALEC, which is already the case so "meh."
 
CBS just spent some time discussing the issue of the "economy" of the voters, and the entire panel basically said that, although the "stats" say that the economy is "great", many voters seem to have relied on what they saw with their own bank accounts instead of what they were told.

And you know what? That may be the fault of this election.

Would that really matter? I feel like Dump, the Senate and the Courts would just bypass the House.

And that’s assuming no one would defect.
 
Yeah, it's not that she is a woman of color. It's that she's a woman. Misogyny is alive and well in this country. I said previously I thought it knocked a point off the top line for her (and Hillary), I'm thinking now it's more like 3.
 
If current results hold, the Dems would take the House by 3 seats. That includes several races where the margin is less than half a percent and many where there's still 50% of the vote to count.

But there's a chance to avoid complete disaster, however slim.
