2024-25: D3whky

Yes should be a great tourney. Really hoping we get Utica vs Adrian.

We also have Card/Panther featuring two ranked teams in Midd and Plattsburgh alongside Endicott.

The Codfish Bowl at least has nationally ranked Amherst among their four.

Despite all of the talent in these three tourneys, University of Dubuque is tone deaf enough to use a tag line of "women's college hockey at its best" in posts for their tourney featuring them, MSOE, Lake Forest and SMU.

Oof. Bad slogan to say the least. Cardinal/Panther should be entertaining. How do Midd/Platt stack up this year? And how close are Endicott/SNC to contending for the NCAAs? Both the Gulls and Green Knights are very close to being ranked in both polls.

Midd looks to be strong and one of the east's best chances at stopping UWRF from repeating. They look well polished early in their season.

Plattsburgh is still a top program but they've taken another step backward as their offense is struggling to replace the production from Masotta, Pazmandi and Boric. Looking at Riley Calhoun's success at Utica it is hard as a Cardinal fan to not wonder if she could have helped bridged the gap if she had chosen to stay

Endicott is favored to take the CNE autobid so I would count on seeing them in the bracket. I don't know enough about them to guess as to if they could make it out of the first round. It depends on who they match with.

SNC is undefeated but none of the 4 teams they've played are very good. Their first real test is this Saturday against the Cardinals. And even if they come away with the Card/Panther as the underdogs that doesn't necessarily mean they make the tourney. Beating the Adrian Bulldogs for their conference tourney is a tall order.

#11 Cortland upsets #7 Elmira in a 3-0 shutout (ENG).

Upset alert: #14 Eau Claire leads #2 Gustavus 3-2 near the end of the 2nd.

Eau Claire was fortunate to get an empty netter to make it 4-2 as the Gusties kept attacking and brought it to 4-3 with 1.5 seconds left in the game.

Great comeback win for the Blugolds who were down 2-0 early only to head into second intermission with a 3-2 lead. The freshman goalie made some great saves in the face of a heavy Gusties attack.

Final: #14 Eau Claire - 4, #2 GAC - 3

Hamilton got a win today, beat Morrisville pretty handily 5-1.

Tuesday was the NESCAC vs everyone else day, and they swept the field. The only close one was Wesleyan vs Salve Regina 3-2 in overtime. The only team not playing was Trinity, presumably because they're going to Florida for their tournament. It will be interesting to see how the tournaments turn out.

These tournaments are always interesting as the two week gap in starting between NESCAC and the rest of the leagues sometime shows up as a factor in the games.

To add, I totally agree with Scott. Watched a few games of SNC last year and one this year so far vs Aurora. Team very solid on D, but struggles to work with each other and produce on the offensive end. Key losses from last year F Morgan Olson (28 pts) and G Brynn Waisman, who was very solid in goal. Two key additions transfer D Lisa LaRoche (St Scholastica) brings offense to the blue line and FR Sydney Zurawick who might be the best defender on the team.

Team is a solid top 25 team, but needs to improve greatly on the offensive end to move up into the top 10. This is a team that needs to sneak in a goal or two and rely on their strength on D. This will also be the first real test for their goaltending which at this point is unproven. I doubt they have a shot at knocking of Adrian for the conference title, but the season is young. At large bid would be tough without winning both at this tournament and other non conference opponents, SOS is horrible with conference play.

Will you be heading up to enjoy the weekend tourney in person? Endicott has won at the Ronny B before

Won't make it this year - was at Middlebury a year ago. Love that barn (and the dog loved the fields behind the arena for some between-period ball tossing). Gulls looked pretty good last weekend against an overmatched Nichols team - we'll see if they bring the same game Saturday vs Middlebury. They played two close games last season and Coach is always motivated when he matches up against his alma mater. Hoping the Endicott green jerseys and blue numbers are easy to read on the video feed!

Don't sleep on St. Norberts, they have some talented players and an excellent Coach. Will be interested to see how they fare against top Eastern teams.

In Tampa: After 1.....Utica 1 - Norwich 1

Edit: Same score after 2

Edit#2:

Utica takes a 2-1 lead and then adds an ENG to win 3-1

After a close game through 2, Adrian dominates Trinity in the third to take it 3-1. The mighty NESCAC loses its 8th consecutive game to the West.

I’m failing to see any argument or point I made. I provided facts. Fully acknowledging St. Olaf won’t keep this up

Heading to OT at Stafford for Plattsburgh vs SNC.

Cards had the lead in the second, scoring after a power play expired.

Late in the 3rd saw Cardinal defender Urban lose an edge as the puck was being sent to her at the point and she could only make weak contact with the puck. This resulted in a turnover that led to a breakaway goal for the Knights.

It was an up and down OT but Orr got around a defender in the neutral zone and streaked in and got it through the goalie.

Plattsburgh advances to face the winner of Midd vs Endicott in the 5pm game tomorrow.

Midd jumped out to a 3-0 lead midway through the first.

Endicott got one back shortly after the 3rd and have a had a couple of good shifts but they're struggling to put much together in terms of sustained offensive zone time.

Shots are 13-8 Midd which surprised me when I saw it tbh

Edit: 4-1 after 2. Shots 26-19 Panthers

Middlebury finishes it off 4-1. Shots 35-26 in favor of the Panthers.

Endicott will play St. Norbert at 2pm.

Middlebury and Plattsburgh play for the championship at 5pm.

Any predictions for today's match ups? Watched SNC vs Plattsburgh and that played out as I expected with a grinding low scoring affair. Would give the edge to Plattsburgh especially the 2nd period, but it was truly anyone's game. Both teams struggled to create quality shots throughout, good defense on both ends.

I did get a chuckle out of the free version of the game online (Non HD).....like anyone could watch that, LOL!

I don't know who takes the consolation game. Maybe a slight edge to SNC as they have a good defense and I didn't see anything potent from Endicott but that may have been the opponent.

For the championship game I think Middlebury is the favorite. They played really well yesterday, moving the puck around. The Cardinals are doing a lot iso plays and I'm not confident it matches up well. I'm just hoping for a close game.

After 1, Endicott leads 1-0 over St. Norbert. Freshman forward Gracyn Kurrle shot a knuckle puck from the left circle that floated over the SNC goalie's shoulder. A few minutes later a hard Gulls shot beat the goalie but hit the crossbar.

Endicott took a penalty with 6 seconds left in the first so SNC will be on the advantage to open the 2nd. Shots 7-6 favoring SNC.
