2024-2025 Season - Providence College

Friars definitely need to figure out winning in Agganis. I think they have proved they can play with BU. Lot's at stake these last 2 games from a positioning view for HE and NCAA tourneys. They can finish anywhere from 4th to 7th in HE I believe. Would take 2 BU losses and 2 PC wins to get to 3rd. Vermont could help the Friars as they play UCONN tonight and BU Saturday at home.

Cats would be happy to help. BU certainly hasn't helped UVM with recent losses to Merrimack and Northeastern. There are a lot of ways, though, that the BU-UVM game could become meaningless for one or both sides.

I certainly agree about Thursday, a shock to the system. Tonight’s lineup was also surprising as far as starting goalie, but then Borgeil stood up with composure and class to his great credit. Terrific defensive play, especially by Richard as 73 mentioned earlier, and coming back so quickly after the tying goal by Northeastern in the 3rd was fantastic. 21 wins in the regular season is impressive, especially since so many of those W’s were away. Can’t wait for the game against UConn next Friday, go Friars!

Phillip still not healthy going into last night, they said Thursday it was more than likely Borgeil would get both games to finish the season. Need a good Phillip on Friday. UCONN is playing well down the stretch.

Hey they scored a PP goal last night, of course they also gave up a PP goal to a team worse then them on the PP.

What's the story here?

Having trouble with the format for copying and pasting data from Excel to this site. Here are some stats for the regular season (just typed in).

Home:
Wins 9
Losses 5
Ties 3
Total 17 61.8%
Away:
Wins 12
Losses 4
Ties 2
Total 18 72.2%
Total:
Wins 21
Losses 9
Ties 5
Total 35 67.1%

Non-Conference:
(includes NE game in Ledyard Tournament)
Wins 10
Losses 1 (Lost 1st game vs North Dakota)
Total 11 90.9%

Just listened to the Nate Leaman radio show from yesterday available now from the PC Hockey X (twitter) site. He said that both goalies were sick for the BU loss on 3/6, but they are both healthy now. Sounds like the whole team is in good health this week so hopefully that will be the case on Friday. He said they will skate at UCONN tomorrow and anticipates a typical fast paced Hockey East game. Hope our favorite team wins!

I like our chances, healthy. It's been a while

It was a very good game except for the final score. The first shorthanded goal by Richard on a fantastic tick tack toe collaboration with Gamache was fantastic. I knew 1 goal wasn't going to be enough, but PC just could not capitalize on their several grade A chances, before and after UConn finally broke through. That first UConn goal evidently deflected off of Machu making it impossible to make that save. Hockey god breaks like that frequently turn games one way or the other. Their second goal at the beginning of the third was a beauty and confirmed why coach Leaman said they had to be careful with Muldowney.

Now we wait to find out who and where we will be playing in the NCAA tournament. Looks like it will be a second or third seed someplace. Glad that last night wasn't the final game for the seniors and grad students, hopefully that won't happen for a few more games.

The lowest they could fall in the Pairwise now is to 13, as Michigan was eliminated in their conference tournament. Still got Ohio State and Penn State playing each other, so one could get past Providence. ECAC likely to be a one bid league whether it's Quinnipiac or a different conference tourney winner. Denver lost to Colorado College last night dropping them a bit in PW. But the one that has my attention today will be UMass and BU. I expect that to be a battle. Has more implications Pairwise of UMass moving past Providence. I watched the second Maine-UMass game last weekend and that was some heavy hockey, loved it.
