Cause it was only added so that the US might have a chance to get more medals in the games, instead of getting their a55es kicked like they always have in the more traditional Olympic winter sports, like say cross country skiing?
And to spread the figure skating from one week to two.
Because:Why is snowbaording any more ludicrous than curling or even short-track skating? It's a winter sport, only the best in the world make the event (yes I know but you get the overall point) and the competition can be quite compelling at times.
Actually that already happened in 2002 when they changed the schedule so it alternated days with Short Track instead of having Figure Skating being one week and Short Track the next. The Team competition just adds three more days to broadcast at the beginning of the games.This. And only this.

Idk why Nike thought it would be a good idea to
make Canada’s jerseys red and black with no white to contrast. Numbers show up a little better on their reds than with their blacks, but it’s still
not great.
So into the important games for this board- anyone concerned that the US Women's team isn't scoring anywhere near Canada? Lots and lots and lots of shots, but relatively few goals. And they are playing really well- controlling the play in a pretty dominant manner.

Canada’s looked like the better team so far and not just because of the goals. The US is dominating the stat sheet about as well as Canada is, but doesn’t look as crisp. Canada’s looked faster, better puck movement, going 100% from puck drop.
But at the same time it can be difficult to piece together these pool play games. US-Canada is almost a different sport compared to the other matchups.
The quarterfinals will be interesting. With the expansion, the US and Canada will now be playing pool B teams. If China beats Sweden they’re guaranteed a spot. China-Canada would be… ugly.

Because:
a) "It's not a traditional event!
b) America bad.
Halfway through the opening ceremonies on DVR and NBC has already done their usual job fucking up matching the video and audio.
No medals = not a real event, otherwise we get to talk about “traditional events” like tug of war, polo, or military patrol. Curling became a medal event in 1998, the same year Snowboarding became a medal event. It’s only part of the Olympics because the Canadians pushed it for decades. It’s probably one of the reasons no one wants to host the Winter Olympics anymore because curling is a very high cost event to put on.Yes.
Also: Curling was included in the program of the inaugural Winter Olympic Games in 1924 in Chamonix as a non-medal event.
It’s 2022, you can watch any event online without NBC commentary very easily.Only if you have to listen to our broadcasters. I start out every Olympics neutral. By the first commercial break, I am actively rooting against every American athlete. Fuck the jingoistic garbage. If I lived in Toronto I'd probably feel the same way about Canada, but I live here, so America bad.
