2020 Democratic Challengers

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers

Depends on who the candidates are. Have you pulled the "R" lever in a federal election?

Not since Caribou Barbie became a national figure.

Because here's the thing, I don't trust a single Republican to not toe the party line these days; even Huntsman. And I care more about actual policies and governance than if the politician is a charismatic baby kisser who would help the elderly woman cross the street.

So long as the GOP stands for having an anti-science, anti-education, pro-gun, pro-racism, anti-gay, anti-woman, anti-taxes platform, why the hell would I vote for any of them?

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers

A bald guy can't be President.

"An x can't be President" is no longer an operational statement. After Trump anything can be President. Yesterday's clothes lying in the hamper can be President.

Qualifications are elitist. Competence is snobbery.

This. The GOP does not believe in civilized society anymore.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers

I wonder if Trump winning is the shot in the arm the country needs to say, "Never again". For at least for a generation or two. I mean after your first bout of crabs wouldn't you start wearing a condom?

This is our second bout of crabs in ten years. The answer is apparently "no."

Trump is the worst of all time, don't get me wrong. But people cannot forget just how horrific his immediate GOP predecessor was.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers

Anybody know anything about this guy? I had literally never heard of him and in the last 36 hours I heard him mentioned by two independent sources about wildly different things, both in the context of being a McMullinesque 2020 candidate.

Mitch Landrieu's speech about removing confederate monuments in New Orleans went viral on social media.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers

Sure, but that's the old "typhus or the plague" choice.

If Shrub would've stayed out of Iraq, he'd have been merely a below average neo-Gilded Age POTUS, rather than an unmitigated disaster.

Dump is so low, he doesn't even register.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers

That's the thing though, other than the rhetoric about minorities and what not he's not substantially different than most of the GOP.

Who, Trump? It's not necessarily his rhetoric that's so horrible, it's his inability to ACT PRESIDENTIAL. He continually runs his mouth (keyboard), can't earn even the slightest modicum of respect from foreign leaders, and is constantly lying to everyone without even trying to pretend otherwise. He lacks any sort of compassion, and can't or won't fake it (ignoring the plight of the hurricane victims, and instead saying how . He's not even able or willing to hire on a full staff to run the government. Either it's intentional, to force the gov't into a four-year tailspin, or he simply doesn't know how to actually hire the necessary people. His family has official roles for which they're not qualified; not only that, they have multiple roles for which they're not qualified.

Depends what you mean by "whatnot." If you mean that his feckless leadership is so buffoonish and imbicile and petty and aimless and immoral that he's done irreparable damage to the standing of the US for generations to come then yes, other than that he's like the others.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers

Yeah I get all that, I was strictly referring to policy being similar. And honestly Jr. was a complete buffoon who destroyed our credibility with the UN and the rest of the world as well. That part isn't exactly exclusive to Donald though he's certainly one upped GWB.
