Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: Weekend at Bernie's

That's where the people live!!!!

Don't you get that? Your dirt and shrubs don't have the right to vote, people do.

Why should someone have to move for their vote to matter?

You want to portion out the votes by win percentage that is fine by me but this ridiculous idea you and the rest of the California Liberals have needs to die. I hate to tell you this but no matter how much your inflated ego tells you otherwise you dont matter more than everyone else. It also means it might be time you went back and took a political history class because the fact that both the small states and the large states matter is precisely WHY America is better than a lot of Western countries and certainly better than all that came before them. You may not like that Cletus has equal say but too bad they do.

The Electoral College is not what is holding the Dems back...it is their voters. If you think silencing those voters is a way to make the system work better you dont understand the system and you definitely dont understand how bad it could get if things flip even just a little bit. The unintended consequences are disastrous.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: Weekend at Bernie's

The States are as obsolete and ridiculous as the margraviates of the Holy Roman Empire.

I recommend we redivide the US by equal population.

(Large just this once for detail.)

I recommend you be put out to pasture and retire. You are the Left's version of the crazy uncle at Thanksgiving Dinner :D

Zero percent chance you have these ideals if they favored the other side...and if you even pretend otherwise you are a fraud.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: Weekend at Bernie's

See my post a page or two back where she's making Assad a victim of his own war.

Yeah I saw that...she isnt a legit contender anyways she was Russia's way to try and get the Dems divided.

Kepler probably thinks she is hot though :p :D

I hate to tell you this, and I know math is hard, but Kep's point is that he currently matters LESS than many others and he only wants to matter just as much.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: Weekend at Bernie's

The thing I like most about that map is that Minnesota is basically just renamed Mesabi. Because of this, however, I must vote against the change. Completely screws up all of the school chants and cheers. Sorry, Kep. Priorities and such.

She has bad skin. That's why Dump didn't make her SecDef. I'm not kidding.

Kep did go insane on us a couple of years ago, but I never understood the argument that rural GOP states are over represented. If the issue is small population relative to Senate representation, look at the states with 1 to 3 House seats (ME, NH, VT, RI, DE, WV, ND, SD, NE, MT, ID, WY, NM, AK, HI). Of those 15 states, 7 of them are pretty solidly Dem (5 northeast states plus New Mexico and Hawaii). I think instead of trying to change the Constitution, a virtual impossibility on this issue, a simple act of Congress will get DC admitted as a state which would also join this list with 1 Rep and 2 Senators thus leaving 16 states in this category and an 8/8 split between red and blue ones.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: Weekend at Bernie's

The New Yorker's obvious story that Fox News is attached at the hip to the Trump administration gave the DNC the excuse to ban FNC from hosting (or apparently broadcasting ) 2020 Democratic debates.

They probably could have decided that a dozen years ago, but here we are.

We don't need to change the Constitution to get rid of the effect of the electoral college. We're currently at 170 and need 270. CO, MN, WI, MI, PA, VA, OR, NV, NH, ME, NM would give us 104 for 274 and a fait accomplis.

How's that for a state solution, Sic?

We're not saying we matter more than others. In fact we are saying the opposite. Right now a Wyoming voter has about 50x the power that a California voter does for President and the Senate. Yet somehow trying to even that out means we're the power grabbers?

And relinquishing that means we're "silencing" them.

Sure.

Privilege lost feels like oppression.

I know what his point is and it basically ignored every vote not on the coasts or Texas.

Sorry but the big states already hold enough of the advantage and he wants to basically hand them all off it. Math may be hard (and your snark may be weak) but I'm not about to tick off every citizen in every state that isn't California just cause Kepler doesn't like the dirty people in flyover country.

If he wants to change his lot he can take his own advice and move.

Again though not one liberal would be saying this if they didn't gain the advantage. We would hear them crying about how am the smaller states get screwed and aren't represented. This isn't about math it is about getting their agenda through. If California went Red tomorrow the about face from the Dems there would be almost as bad as the GOP on the debt when they get power.

But I will entertain the thought if you can tell me how Blue States with lesser population gain from this. And don't say they get a Blue agenda because they will have zero say in said agenda. The only people with any say will be coastal creating the Lefts version of the 1%.

. Somewhere I said I'd require a US passport (proof of citizenship to vote) and would require it be provided free to citizens. That's all it takes to vote.

Getting a passport is not a seamless nor a timely efficient process regardless of cost

Wyoming has three Electoral votes they don't matter a lick under the EC. Hell Minnesota has ten and they barely matter.

If you go straight one person, one vote half the states might as well stay home. There are better compromises than that.

Hey I'm consistent on this stuff out state Minnesota is Red as hell and have no population but they deserve to be heard as much as me.

And again you can get that just by not putting up awful candidates. The EC isn't why Gore lost, or Kerry or Hillary. The Dems have the numbers...they just have issues closing the deal cause they worry too much about making everyone like them.

Look at the young Dems like AOC do you think she cares if people like her? No she doesn't she just does what she thinks is best and goes after the clowns who attack her. If The Old Guard was more like that the Dems would be in power a lot longer.

The popular vote coalition is a gnat’s a-s away from passing. It’s going to happen.

It’s only been enacted in states where Democrats have had complete control of state government. New Mexico looks like the next to sign on. After that Delaware, Maine, Nevada and Oregon are states with Democrats in power in all branches that have yet to sign on (there is a proposal in Maine that will be going before the legislature).

After that how do you get the rest of the way to 270? The closer it comes, the more opposition will ramp up, and then there are certain to be legal challenges.

I think it’s still got a long road ahead of it.

Yes, they deserve to be heard as much as you. Not more than you.
