2020 Democratic Challengers III: Weekend at Bernie's

You never know. Incumbents historically do really well unless the economy is crap and while, yes, for most people the economy is crap, they don't know that because they've been brainwashed into thinking the DJIA means something for them.

If one has a job, economy is great.
If one doesn’t, then it is crap.

Yeah I like Inslee but if all he has is the environment he will get swallowed up in a field like this. He will force the issue to the front of the agenda though.

Successful Dem candidates will have these as their main issues:

Health Care
Immigration
Entitlements
Climate Change

In that order. Health Care caused the House to flip, Immigration is what has both sides so charged up, Entitlements keep people happy and Climate Change is self explanatory. And they cannot move to the center on any of these. The Dems need to go back to what they used to be...and they need to be the adults in the room.

This is one of the subtle points I was trying to make a while ago. I think I was too subtle.

Guys and gals like him can be great champions of an issue and are worth considering for VP. Biden was a champion of cancer research, for instance. We need someone at the highest levels of government that can explain the issue well without being condescending or sound too much like a parent. If Inslee can do that, make him VP or EPA director.

But overall I think you’re right. It’s a good list of priorities. But I would add a “quiet” priority of tax reform. Don’t necessarily campaign on taxes, but be strong on the issue if asked. Once elected, ram it through.

Foreign policy is something where they can differentiate themselves from the pack on as well. Especially when you consider that this country hasn't had a sane foreign policy since... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (before Vietnam maybe?)

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: Weekend at Bernie's

Only thing I know about him is he's Mr. Environment. Al Gore may have a few words on how adult the voters are about facing the environmental crisis.

This is going to be like Walter Mondale saying we need taxes to balance the budget and Ronald Reagan saying no, I'm Santa Claus and I'm here to give you something for nothing. Santa beats reality every time.

I agree with him the Times (and others) definitely seem to look that way. I don't think she plays that way too the average person though is what I am saying.

Maggie Haber an must be angry at how the Times treats women candidates...i will await her outrage.

Yes tax reform is another talker though kind of a snoozer. I don't think foreign policy will get the costs of trix though you are right.

And yeah this guy would be an excellent VP pick.

Great. Are we going to cull all the moderates out of the Dem party paving the way for permanent R minorities?

Count me as someone who would prefer that the members of the congress with weeks of experience focus more on governing and less on creating media circuses that will help Trump's re election. Stop treating 2020 as an election that's already in the bank.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: Weekend at Bernie's

To be fair, these rookies are keeping their bade engaged.
Something R do quite well.

How well has it been going for smarty pants dems to just govern and talk down to the little people that put them there :(

AOC and the hijib chick are onto something. Sure isn't like the DNC have any "let me show you" evidence to share so they should back off the preaching :)

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers III: Weekend at Bernie's

Oh so you don't get how elections work...cool ;)

ah.... if y'all don't think he is suitable for pres, why then type "oh, but put him on for vp"

like he would really give you that much push on the undercard :p

dope (copyright pro :))

I think he would make a fine prez. I don't think he could win though. So again you don't know how elections work...cool.

Guess we disagree. There's a the district nature of the US electoral process. We lose the suburbs, we lose the house. We lose moderates in swing states, we lose the white house. It happens every cycle.
